In a recent interview, Order of the Phoenix screenwriter Michael Goldenberg speaks about the psychological aspects of the film. Quote:
I’d say it’s darker. I’d say it’s more psychological and more complex and mostly more grownup. I think the films have grown up as the characters have.
He (Harry) spends a lot of the film trying to work through the survivor’s guilt of having watched Cedric die in front of him. One of the outcomes of that is that it really cuts him off from his usual sources of support — he’s gone through something which his friends can’t really understand, no matter how hard they try. And the one person he really can connect to and confide in is his godfather, Sirius. So he kind of puts all his emotional eggs in that basket, so to speak. And if you read the book you know where that leads.
Some of my favorite moments [in the film] are those quiet, personal moments between two characters, particularly between Harry and Sirius.

It's true, the movies get darker and more grown-up as the characters do.

I can't wait for those moments  It's true tho, it's like, Sirius is one of the only people that understands, and of course with Sirius being dead in the end...

Although I like him a million times better than Kloves so far, I'm still annoyed about the lack of Ron and Ron/Hermione storylines in the OOTP movie so while I really like him and desperately wished he had written HBP's screenplay as well, I'm not that big a fan. He seemed like he really cared about the story though which is always great. Sometimes it began to feel as if the other screenplay writer just wrote to cash a cheque.
