| | | HBP UK audio book clip online Bloomsbury have a teaser clip of the UK ' Half-Blood Prince' audidobook, read by Stephen Fry, available for download on their website.
The file can be downloaded from here (right click save target as ... ) Obviously it will contain HBP spoilers.
There's also a press release in which Stephen Fry talks about the audiobooks. Quote:
Stephen says that sometimes he finds clues to the kind of voice a character should have in JK Rowling’s writing or in the character names: ‘Sometimes [there is] a turn of phrase that makes me think well that sounds like a Cockney or that’s an older character or that’s a younger character...’ Luckily he felt that Hagrid was West Country, as JK Rowling says ‘that was the only character I felt protective about accent-wise.’ And otherwise, Stephen says, ‘the sound engineer very kindly has an indexed CD to remind me.’
Quote:
JK Rowling describes Stephen’s reading as ‘though someone you know well is reading to you and that person happens to be talented at voices but [doesn’t] form a big barrier between the listener and the story.’ Stephen says about reading the Harry Potter books ‘It’s the perfect thing to read. If I was told I was going to have to do a series of big novels I might have thought at first maybe Trollope or the complete Jane Austen but I don’t think I would have got a tenth as much pleasure.’

I might have to invest in those tapes, it would be nice to listen to them instead of reading the books. Don't get me wrong, I love reading the books its just sometimes I'm too tired to read, so listening to the tapes would be a brilliant alternative.
*Goes off to amazon (or other internet book purchasing site!!) to calculate the cost of the audio books...*

I'm not too into audio books, but I am curious about how it sounds. Maybe I'll have to check it out now...

I personally thought that The Order of the Phoenix and Goblet of Fire were her bests. Prisoner of Azkaban was great as well. I have never listened to the audio tapes before, but they sound like they would be cool. Maybe I will buy one sometime. Just to see how they do the different voices of all the characters
