| | | HBP: 'There are a lot of answers.'
Editors from TLC attended Scholastic's unveiling of the 30-day countdown clock at its New York City store.
Pictures from the event can be viewed here in a slideshow type format.
After the event, Mr. Levine and Ms. Marcus, the main editor of the Scholastic edition of Harry Potter and executive vice president of Scholastic, respectively, gave a short interview to TLC.
The event was captured on video and files can be downloaded from here. The entire interview can be read on this page. Quote: Arthur Levine: "I think they will like the fact that they finally are getting a lot of answers.
Quote: Arthur Levine: "I guess for me the most satisfying thing is to see the continuing emotional development of the characters.
To see them, to actually see them growing up, which is something that, as in mere children, you don't neccessarily notice on an ongoing basis but you have moments that you say, 'Wow,' you know? 'Harry is really growing up,' you know.
And it's not something you would have said three books ago [laughter]or when he first got to Hogwarts, or... Gosh, Hermione? (Nods) You know, "YOU GO GIRL." [laughter] Barbara Marcus: "We knew that from the begining though." Arthur Levine: "Right we knew that, but she (Hermione) didnt always - but she's come a long way. So I think the character development is for me, the most satisfying." Quote: Arthur Levine: This author has set up this incredibly elaborate puzzle, you know, putting a little piece here, a little piece there and still it's continually amazing that this little tiny minor detail from book two suddenly becomes a plot point - I'm making that up by the way, that's randomly chosen from my head [laughter].
Quote: AL, standing with Cheryl Klein, continuity editor on HP: And, the Half-Blood Prince is - [Cheryl clamps her hand over Arthur's mouth and smiles smugly while Arthur reveals the secret behind her hand (or so we think)].

I thought she said that somewhere alone the road. OOO will. It's good to hear that the date to the book is getting closer. I am going crazy waiting for it. 1st to post! | |

Seeing the kids grow is one of the reason I like the books so well. JKR hasn't tried to keep the kids little. They're growning just like us with some of the same problems real kids have, like first crushes, emotions, and more complex problems.

Yeah apparently in CoS Harry found out something which foreshadows stuff that happens in HBP. But the actual HBP isn't related to CoS at all.
I wonder what Hermione does to make them say 'You go girl!'. Sounds R/Hr related because of the coy way they speak about her after. Plus they say, 'We knew that from the beginning' and R/Hr was evident even as early as PS. And 'she didn't always' could refer to the fact that she didn't always fancy Ron and 'she's come a long way' probably means she's able to now confront her own feelings; Hermione's good with the feelings of others, like helping Harry out with Cho, but she's not very good with her own.

| Oh goodness it better be! I hope they are referring to R/Hr. Perhaps it is Hermione that will do something about her and Ron, rather than Ron. But's it's not Hermione- like. I suppose thats what they mean by "she's come a long way". We all know what Ron is like, he probably wont do anything. He growing up too, but compared to Hermione he still has a long way to go. I guess that it's true when people say that grils mature faster than boys.

He may not be talking about H/R ......There are equal amount of clues for H/Hr from the beginning.

That's a matter of opinion. But even JKR's hinted very strongly at which one will happen. Besides, Harry finds spending time alone with Hermione, boring. That's hardly an incentive for him to want to go out with her plus it'd isolate Ron. Isolating Harry is a better literary tactic because we already know Harry needs to prepare himself for the fact he alone can destroy the Dark Lord.

I'm thinking Harry will be isolated also, because he needs to prepare also he probably figures those around him are in danger. But I've heard there some romance in this one, for along time JKR has set us up for Hermione and Ron. Wonder who Harry will end up with? Can't hardly wait for July 16! |

I'm with Marcella Riddle. Hermione will developing more and more. I think that she will be wiser than any previous book. Plus what they have said about " We knew from the beginning" We knew from the beginning about Ron and Hermione. Rowling herself said some hints about the possible couples.I don't know if Hermione who will make the first move or what? I hope so. I really hope to see R/Hr in the book any way.

I really want something to happen between Ron and Hermione in HBP. The only thing that JKR has hinted at with H/H is that they are good friends. Nothing could ever happen romantically for them. Hermione is going to be the one to make the first move. Ron isn't mature enough yet to make the first move. I just want the book to come out so we can have some answers. I'm going crazy waiting for July 16th!!

It sounds to me like they just confirmed a R/Hr shipping. I'm ok with it. We all knew it was going to happen.

I completely agree. I think he's going to be very quiet, reserved and withdrawn at the beginning of HBP; I don't see him being angry this time, more depressed. I really want it to be R/Hr and I'd love to see H/L. Quote:

The more I read it, the more I agree. 'You go girl!' sounds like Hermione's finally confronting Ron about why they argue.
Did anyone hear the joke for the 'sharp-eared fan'?

I hate all this waiting. It's making me think of what might happen, so when I get the book and read it, if nothing goes the way I'm thinking, I'll be all sad. grr.... it's soooo annoying to feel and think the way I do.
