A worker at a small bookstore has ventured a guess that '
Half-Blood Prince' won't be as big as '
Order of the Phoenix', in
article which discusses the various different plans that bookstores have for the release of HBP on July 16th.
"I think Scholastic's announcement of that huge print run was an attempt to prime the pump. [Fans] are looking forward to [the new book], but it's not the big thing it used to be. The first generation of Potter fans are in their teens now, so I think the new book is going to sell steadily well, but I don't think it will be as big as the last book." said Elizabeth Jenkins, an employee in the children's section of the Berkeley, Calif.-based
Cody Books.
Sara Wright, manager of
Chicago's Children in Paradise bookstore has said that smaller booksellers can benefit from the Potter craze, "A lot of times bookstores that have the parties sell out of the title, so the next day we benefit from the fact that we still have some copies on hand."
"I think the lesson learned [from the last Potter books] is that people will want this title anyway they can, whether they have to pay $9 or $29."
