| | | HBP ending spoilt for motorists
A banner revealing a spoiler from ' Half-Blood Prince' was hung on a footbridge which is above the A442 road near Telford. The spoiler was removed by lunchtime. Quote:
A spokesman for Telford and Wrekin council said: "People in the know tell us it had the outcome of the Harry Potter book on it.
"This does have a serious side to it as if the banner had fallen down it could have serious consequences for motorists."

There's always going to be someone out there doing stupid things. Like the article said, I'm glad that no one was injured.

Well, atleast it was taken down. Maybe the motorists didn't have a chance to read it over given its size. it looks pretty small.

Why would someone do that? That's just ridiculus. Well at least it was taken down.

That really is mean and does not benefit anyone. Don't understand people like that. I have been very careful around the people I work with to not spoil.

This is so sad. I remember when OotP came out, a couple of idiots on one of our radio stations in Austin, TX spoiled the end. They didn't even think it was any big deal, and when there was a subsequent uproar about it (from adults as well as kids), they ridiculed and insulted any adult who was outraged about their having spoiled it for them or would even read a "children's book" like Harry Potter.
They just didn't get it. HP has completely different meaning to each individual, specifically because there are fans of all ages, genders and backgrounds. I don't think Rowling specifically intended for the books to be read only by children, and a lot of the plotlines and implications couldn't possibly be grasped by most, say, 10 year olds. I am always saddened by people who have so little respect for literature and fans of literature that they think nothing of ruining a story - especially one as anticipated as this one - for others.

Hehe. Sad in a funny way, funny in a sad way.
My local radio station ruined it this morning for their listeners, I was cracking up because I knew, but there was a bunch of angry callers. They even made up a song...
