Post HBP definitely a half-blood?

The French title to the sixth book, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince can possibly offer a new insight into who the Prince could be.

There have been debates as to whether Half-Blood Prince means that prince will be of half-blood or whether it means he will be the prince of half-bloods - sort of like the 'Prince of thieves' concept in Robin Hood.

Céline has let us know that the French title for the sixth Potter novel is Le Prince au sang mêlé.

This directly translates into English as 'the prince who is a half-blood.'

I can't believe there was ever any debate over that...seems kind of silly really. Wouldn't someone who rules over something, be a part of that something?
thats what i thought too. well im glad that the meaning is clearer now!

French can't always be taken literally! (A couple years of French has taught me that!)
But in this case, it seems logical...

Wow. That's cool then! Now the only question is. Who is the Half Blood Prince? Only JK will know! XD

Maybe. But then they're most likely straight forward translations that could only mean something slightly different if then translated riggedly back into English.

these are very interesting points! i really love the whole "prince of half-bloods" theroy. it really makes sense, and makes you wonder. jk rowling is known for tricking you into believing something, and it turns out to be something entirely different. i think that if the the 'prince' was to be half blood, then maybe jk would have called the book "harry potter and the half-blooded prince". this is why i think that the "prince of the half-bloods" theroy could very well be correct..... good thinking!

Default HHHHmmmmmm.......

Hopefully everyone has seen or read this quote from JKR in the HBP:

He) looked rather like an old lion. There were streaks of grey in his mane of tawny hair and his bushy eyebrows; he had keen yellowish eyes behind a pair of wire-rimmed spectacles and a certain rangy, loping grace even though he walked with a slight limp.

I think it could be a good possibility that who she is talking about could be the half blood prince. It kinda sounds to me like a decendant of godric gryffindor or even himself. oooooooo, These theorys are great, keep them going!
