Post HBP additions to HP Pronounciation Guide

Scholastic's Official Harry Potter pronunciation guide has been updated to include various references and characters from 'Half-Blood Prince'. The list will obviously contain spoilers from the sixth book so please do not go to it if you've not yet finished the novel.

That's really useful, now I know how those difficult words are supposed to be said!! I remember in some of the earlier books I thought words were said one way then I spoke to friends about it or watched the films and discovered I'd been saying them wrong for ages!! At least now I won't curse anyone with the wrong spell!!

My friend (who lived in France for several years and speaks the language fluently) said it's pronounced Bow-baton. With a slight accent on the second part.

Interesting, the 'Voldemort' pronounciation is funny. I have been wondering for a while how to pronounce Baxabatons, I always said it how it is spelled, and now I can finally say 'Horcrux's' confidently.

Lol. I should pick that up, considering that my mother just informed me that I've been pronouncing apparition wrong, lol. I am horrible when it comes to pronouncing some of those words. Well at least I think I'm pronouncing them right, but then am told that I'm not. Ah well

That's actually very interesting.

I never suspected "Lestrange" wouls be pronounced "Le-STRAWNGE" or that "Anamagi" was pronounced "Ani-mayj-i" or that "Seamus" was pronounced "Shame-us" (though I should have know with "Sean" being "Shawn".

Anyways, cool stuff!

i remember i thought patronus was "pay-tro-nis" and then the movie came out and they're all saying "puh-tro-nis." I was just like "WHAT?!???"

The pronounciation of Lestrange surprised me -- I've always said Le-strang. Animagi and animagus surprised me when the PoA film came out. As did patronus.

awwww, gee. You're cute LeeBee. So............I shouldn't admit that I added it to my favorites for Future Reference?

I'll be honest, the French words and names had me confused, so did a few others........since Lee has such high opinion of older people reading, I shan't say which they were

I couldn't hear any of the pronounciations on the site - except for Voldemort's. Hmm, I wonder if that means anything...
