* Have the PoA DVD Deleted Scenes Been Revealed? -

Summary:
Rumour, but could quite possibly be confirmed soon..

Article:

From TheSnitch.co.uk :

Quote:
iharrypotter.net recieved a letter regarding some possible deleted scenes which may appear in the POA DVD.*

"Hello!*
I have the screenplay of the eliminated scenes of 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban'. The scenes have been "translated" with voice in spain, and (it is secret) the studio has given me. I have in spanish, but i have ask for english... i dont know if they will give me. There will be few scenes in the dvd... the eliminated scenes are: 11, 40, 56 and 91-93."*

This of course is a RUMOUR so do treat it as such. The writer does go on to describe some of the scenes that were not included.*

"-SCENE 91 TO 93: McGonagall ask who has lost the passwords... Neville*
speaks... you know this scene..."*

This does look right because if you remember back to the ABC potter night on May 9th, you'll remember in one of the interviews they showed footage of the cast on set during the scene after Ron was attacked by Sirius Black. I do have the video of that somewhere so i'll try and put a still image up for you later if i can. I also remember somewhere in an interview with a cast member a brief mention about the scenes that were deleted - I think it was Chris Rankin (Percy Weasley).
Quote:
Should you want to know about the other scenes then go to this linkto read more. Please remember this is still a RUMOUR until confirmed or denied.

Seems like they could be real deleated scenes. in my poa sticker book, there is a picture of harry, ron and hermione are sitting at a table, and it is covered in candy and the sneakoscope is sitting on the table infront of harry. also there is a picture of harry, ron and hermione fighting. andat the end of the sticker book, it shows draco, crabbe, goyle and pansy parkinson saying something to harry before he rides off on his broom. but ill just wait for the dvd to come out to see exactly what the scenes are. :sorcerer:

I hope it's true. I can't wait to see the deleted scenes. Do you think it will be incorporated into the film just like LOTR? Or they'll have a separate section for deleted scenes?

Deleted scene's:
  • After returning from Hogsmeade (for the first time) Ron and Hermione meet up with Harry in the great hall where they give him the sweets and discuss the sneakscope. This is right before the fat lady scene in which she is missing.
  • Sirius Black goes into the boy dormetries and the whole 'Neville's password' scene takes place.
  • On the way down to Hagrid's hut to hear about Buckbeack's execution Ron and Hermione bicker about Scabbers being eaten, the first half of this fight is shown. As they continue Harry grows angry at their bickering and tells them to stop it and they get into a fight. When they hear about Buckbeacky they forget the fight.
  • Apparently there where alot of lines cut about Hermione being tired from the contstant time turning, but these where deleted because they contradicted the whole 'super Hermione' theme.
  • Tom Felton discussed a quidditch scene that was filmed, but never made it to the end. I suppose this would have been the quidditch world cup, but seeing as they swapped the firebolt scene's around it didn't make it, maybe it will appear on the DVD, though it seems doubtful.

Here's what I think they are: "the common room scene". This scene was in the T.V. preview trailer. the second one is (and I'm going in order)Hermione and Ron on their first Hogsmeade trip, after the trip when the trio is is in the Great Hall, the fight between all three of them,The part where Sirius Black breaks in,and finally the R/H hug. I hope this last scene will be in there.(If it's not please don't write because I'm going to be sad  :/

I hope they incorporate the deleted scenes like LOTR. I think it's a lot better that way, instead of just watching the scenes by themselves. Makes the movie more whole (and better ). Hopefully, they will include them, but not like they did on the X-Men dvd. Neat idea, but it was just too choppy.

I'd love to see them like the ones on the "Love Actually" DVD - with director commentary beforehand to tell you why it was deleted and what they liked and loathed about the scene.

I too have the sticker book and it does contain photos from scenes that were never in the film. One of them was where Ron said that "People can die being friends with you." to Harry and I think it's pretty obvious why that was deleted. Possibly, as it was on one of the collectors cards, someone saw the comments on the net about how wrong that line was to Ron's character and so chopped the scene.

I think it's nice to know why they loose certain bits of the story.

Oh heaven forbid, Hermione has a flaw! :o That was one of the things that bugged me about PoA, they expected us to believe that Hermione could do everything on the syllabus and still be super fit girl-power Hermione at the same time. I mean, her being tired was part of the reason why she quit divination, amongst other subjects.

Chris Rankin aka Percy commented alot on the second break in, in Hogwarts caused by Sirius. This must mean that the scene is around 5 to 10 minutes long, which is probably why they had to cut it, perhaps it was really long and seemed like it was dragging the story. After all, nothing heavily significant or important happens in that scene, which effects the plot. It's just a scene which would have been nice to have seen onscreen.

I really want to see the one where they're all fighting. Since they do a lot of fighting and arguing from the fourth book up, it'd be quite interesting to see how they fight while they're in 3rd year, if you get me.

I wasn't overly fond of POA (the film), but I really look forward to the dvd release - I feel there are probably many deleted scenes. The theatre version was choppy and many *important* items in the book were completely ignored by the film version. My hope is that those scenes will be on dvd. I'd love a director's cut. Hopefully it'd include more Lupin/Harry bonding - or at the very least allow Lupin to explain why he knows the secret of the map!

I agree, I like to hear why certain scenes were cut. I would also think that they should do a LOTR thing and actualyl insert these deleted scenes into the film and have scenes extended/changed as they should have done but it would have made it too long at the cinema. To be honest I wouldn't have minded sitting for another hour in the cinema if it would've meant more scenes/extended scenes that would've made the film more enjoyable and easier to understand.

Wow I really want to see the deleted scenes now. Especially when Harry, Hermione and Ron get into a fight. That I've got to see. I also want to know why some scenes were cut out. Like if they werent good enough or didnt fit with movie or something?

And since the three of them didnt do much fighting seeing all three in a fight would be interesting to watch. And I hope they show everything like behind the scenes and how the dementors were made which I heard they would do but I also heard they didnt want to show it because it would give away the dementors secret or something? Oh well I'd really like to see this DVD release.

Yes, the making of PoA will be on there, I think the show aired in the UK only. They previously on PS and CoS did not put making of's on the DVD's because they didn't want to spoil the magic but now that the fans are older they understand how interested we are in the process of making these films.

I hope that that scene is 10 minutes long! That would be awesome! It also makes sense about that scene not being very signifigant to the plot. :sorcerer:

I can't wait to actually see the R/Hr hug, although it may too get cut because it is a bit pre-mature. I would like to see in GoF (final task), Hermione grabbing Ron's hand again, except this time they both look at each other and smile nervously. That should be good. But I suppose another hug in PoA would seem they are comfortable with each other at the end, which they defenetly are not.

I hope they have a separate movie with the deleted scenes... that would mean that there would be hours and hours of extra footage!
