| | | Harry Potter trail in Scotland Walkwise, a new walking magazine aimed to get Scots off their couches, features a Harry Potter trail.
The Harry Potter trail takes in the Glenfinnan Estate in the western Highlands, which features in the films of the JK Rowling series. It includes a trip to the Glenfinnan rail viaduct, which the Hogwarts Express crosses. Quote:
“It’s about giving people ideas about where to go for a walk. Many of the walks featured in the magazine will get people walking without realising it,” said executive editor Cameron McNeish.
The magazine is free and there are 80,000 copies available in places like doctors’ surgeries, chemists and selected WH Smith outlets. Quote:
“We have a unique strategy for WH Smith. Vendors are only to offer them to people who buy things like high sugar drinks or bags of crisps,” said McNeish.

Well, you can hardly blame them. Hogwarts is in Scotland so they're going to have filmed there hence that's what makes it interesting walking there.

The whole point of the walk is to see the Potter sets which I doubt you'd be able to see in Russia.

Oops I read this as "Harry Potter trial in Scotland" not trail. And then I was like "What charges are they putting him up on now?"
Heh. Well, the trail thing is pretty cool. Love to go if I could.

Yeah, Scotland is nice.
But they do not mention Loch Eilt (also like Loch Shiel in CoS) and Loch Morar, where they was turning for PoA as well.
And in Glen Nevis, they should've say, that the biggest waterfall, in the back of the Glen, is one of the turning locations of GoF. When I am not much mistaken, we will see Harry, Ron and Hermiony in Front of it. Harry is sitting on a stone btw.
And there's a really nice daredevil bridge in "Indiana Jones" style.
And not forget to mention: Scotland rulez | |

That's true, but Loch Eilt is the neighbour lake of Loch Shiel and Loch Morar laiys behind Loch Shiel when i don't mix the names now, so it is not that a distance.
Anyway when you wand to walk at Glen Finnan then you have to drive anyway, because only a few peoble living on trees so.
And for the Glen nevis trip they already mention the car park, this car park is about 10 Miles from the last houses I daresay. A family won't walk ten miles to start the journey.

But the point of the magazine is to get people walking. Nice sounding names though. I'd love to go to Scotland again one day. I've only ever been to High Barbucany.

Certainly they didn't want to get the peoble from the couch to the carseat, but in my opinion that is what they will archieve with it mainly.
Only a few people live in walking distance to the locations, and when i think of the Fort William Youth Hostel, which is the last house at the entrance of Glen Nevis, then it would take, I guess, a half a day to get to the waterfall and back again for a good walker. Glen Finnan I can't imagine how to reach from Fort William (which is the biggest place in the area) without driving by car or the train to the small village there.
