| | |  Harry Potter: The Exhibition hiring in Boston
As we announced in July, Harry Potter: The Exhibition will be moving to the Museum of Science in Boston, Massachusetts and will open on October 25th. As such, the venue is looking to hire workers. The exhibit is set to close on February 21st 2010, when it will move to another city. Details of the positions may be found here - they specifically mention that a British accent must be used at all times. Quote: POSITION SUMMARY:
Six (6) positions must be in the exhibit at all times. The staff in these six positions must have an authentic British accent at all times! Ideal candidates will have some familiarity of the Harry Potter™ films, and work well in direct contact with the general public. The Exhibit Host will work in all six positions, rotating about every hour or so into another position. Again, all six positions must be in place whenever the exhibit is open; an authentic British accent will be used at all times.
NOTE: You will be on your feet at all times while working!
SHIFT NEEDS:
Both full-time (35+ hrs/wk) and part-time (10 to 16 hrs/wk) temporary Exhibit Hosts are needed to provide the necessary coverage in this exhibition. The Museum of Science will be hiring for 20+ total temporary positions.
The ideal candidate will have as much schedule flexibility as possible to work mornings, afternoons, and some evenings, on any days of the week and weekends, from mid October 2009 through late February 2010. The exhibit is open every day except Thanksgiving and Christmas.
INTERVIEW PROCESS:
There will be an audition/interview process for these Exhibit Host positions starting in mid September. Applicants will be asked to speak in an authentic British accent for the entire audition/interview process.
Applicants must be 18 years old or over and should be prepared to carry a lantern while delivering lines from a script, during their shift. Training begins in mid October and applicants should be willing to work during the holiday seasons.

LOL...i agree...I picked up on two of the employees distincty Chicago/Midwest style accents under the fakey British one. I asked where they were from because, to me, it sounded like a television accent....one of the employees admitted that they WERE from Chicago...

While, the job sounds very interesting, but i don't live in Boston so that's too bad. A British accent? Well, that's sounds very weird as a requirement especially in America. And I never heard about that. Well, i am old enough and I have experiences required to work in that kind of job, but i just can't imitate British accent, and it would funny for me to try and i would be already at the door.
That's too bad it is not in Canada. An American is copying British accent? I would love to hear that
