Preface
Honestly: Can anyone remember a cinematic summer like the one we're having this year? We've barely recovered from the winter season's blockbusters, and already we're moving on without a pause. In winter, we pined with Troy and Gabriella in the grand finale of the HSM series, and now Zac Efron rushes through his youth a second time in "17 again". "Twilight" warmed our hearts at the beginning of the year, now Harry Potter caps it all in magic. The sixth part of the HP saga doesn't just include the most beautiful love story, but also the most dangerous Dark wizard. Lord Voldemort has returned, and the Daniel Radcliffe's newest adventure is more action-packed than ever before.
But magical problems like that are not Miley Cyrus' cup of tea, although she does fight a very dangerous enemy: herself. Because in her film, Hannah Montana's fame goes to her head, and her father decides that a holiday at home is the best way to sort her out.
Speaking of holidays, this year it'll basically have to be cancelled, at least if you want to catch all those cinematic blockbusters. Maybe the weather will do us a favour and supply lots of rainy days - at least then we won't have a guilty conscience about hanging out at the theatre for the whole time.

No, not the polar bear. A Knut is the smallest unit of currency in the wizarding world. 29 Knuts are a Sickle, and 493 Knuts are a Galleon.

4 Privet Drive is where Harry has to spend the summer, at the Dursleys' house. As bad as it is, it's something he has to do, because only that way, Harry is protected by his mother's blood from Dark magic.

Who thought that, after the death of Sirius Black, things couldn't get any worse for Harry, was wrong. Because even though everyone now knows that Voldemort really has returned and Harry's reputation recovered, the Dark Lord's menace grows from day to day. Not even Hogwarts is safe from the Death Eaters.
So everything's darker, more menacing, more exciting than in any of the previous movies. Slowly but steadily, the saga nears its spectacular conclusion. For the first time, the audience find out about Tom Riddle - the man and boy who became Lord Voldemort. His relationship with Hogwarts, with Dumbledore, with Harry is revealed, and we discover just how dangerous Dark wizards can become. Some of Harry's closest allies experience this for themselves...

It can't get any worse?

When, in Half-Blood Prince, Harry fights against Voldemort, it's clear that he is the only one who can save the wizarding world. In his five years at Hogwarts, Harry has experienced quite a lot, and after Sirius' death, it seems as if his darkest hour is now behind him. But Voldemort's plans mean more harm for Harry, who still has to face several tests.
At any rate, there's not much left of the boy who, not too long ago, boarded the train to Hogwarts from Platform 9 3/4 for the first time. On the following pages, Picture Star will show you the first pictures of Harry, the Chosen One.
On 16 July, the long looked-for blockbuster finally reaches the big screen. And then we'll find out who really is on harry's side, who really is prepared to face Lord Voldemort, and who is a part of the danger.



Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - here's how it goes

Turning old like Brad Pitt

Turning old like Brad Pitt first of all mean staying, even in advanced age, one cool guy. And looking like one, too. When we're talking about movies, this
also means ageing faster than normal. In "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button", we saw Mr Pitt at several stages of age. Similar computer technology is said to be used for Deathly Hallows. In the last scenes, the audience will get a glimpse at the lives of Harry and his friends in approximately 30 years.
At first, the creators played with the thought of using other actors for these scenes, but producer David Heyman refused, because "I'd feel horrible if, in the last minutes, those parts were being played by someone else". So the computers jump in, something that Daniel Radcliffe doesn't like completely. "If it's done well, I'll be very happy, but this idea makes me nervous. If I had the choice between me, Emma and Rupert looking a bit stupid and weird and other actors acting instead of us, I'd always choose those other actors." He shouldn't be begrudged the opportunity of it being him who's seen at the end of the eight-part series, though. We'll find out if he actually looks old...

The next Twilight-Harry Potter crossover

You'll find out all about Twilight superstar Robert Pattinson's role in Harry Potter on page 8. But the actors' similarities don't end with Cedric Diggory. In Deathly Hallows, Jamie Campbell Bower will play the part of Dumbledore's school day friend Gellert Grindelwald. Before playing the Dark wizard, he'll also portray head vampire Caius in "New Moon", the second part of the Twilight saga.

Crazy guy for crazy part

After hearing a lot about Xenophilius Lovegood and his magazine "The Quibbler" in Order of the Phoenix, we'll also get to see him in Deathly Hallows. For the slightly loopy guy, the producers cast Rhys Ilfans, who's been playing oddball characters for over ten years. His cast is guaranteed to be a lot of fun.

Mixed feelings
Whenever Daniel Radcliffe thinks about the end of the HP films, he feels really queasy. "We'll never have anything like this again," the young star says

sadly. After all, he practically grew up with Rupert Grint and Emma Watson in front of the camera. But not having to play Harry anymore has its advantages, too. "I'm very sad, but also happy that I don't have to tell people, 'No, I'll be available again in four years!' when they come to me saying, 'Hey, we have this terrific script for you, are you available this year?'" And we, of course, are really looking forward to seeing Dan in other great movies.

Apart from that, the 18-year-old also pockets 3 million euro with the contract. Maybe the top spot of richest teenagers in the world is still a possibility...

Yet another list

Dan showing up on all kinds of lists is nothing new. Most attractive single guy, richest teenager, and so on... The British magazine "Empire" has, in time with its 20th birthday, released a list of 20 stars who weren't even alive yet at the time of its first edition.
First place: Daniel Radcliffe. Obviously, we should say. He's in front of Miley Cyrus and Dakota Fanning. But his colleagues from HP made it as well. Rupert Grint managed rank ten. He is one of the people the "Empire" editors think will go far in the future because one of his qualities is his inconspicuousness. That makes it possible for him to accept pretty much any part.
The same goes for Emma Watson, who is by now being offered more and more parts in costume dramas. But Em and her character Hermione Granger have a lot in common. Due to her good grades, she can study at the prestigious Cambridge University. So, will she even continue with her acting career? Maybe rank 19 on the "Empire" list is motivation enough for her.



Daniel Radcliffe vs. Robert Pattinson

When Harry Potter and Cedric Diggory are being teleported to the graveyard, out of the maze, Dig's fate is sealed. But that was only the starting gun for actor Robert Pattinson. Ever since playing the part of Edward Cullen in "Twilight" a few months ago, he's traded as one, if not THE hottest beau in

Hollywood. Picture Star checks for you who's really ahead.

Flat
In the books, Harry's hair is untidy. Daniel's hair, on the other hand, usually lies flat on his forehead like a sleeping hippogryff. And so the movie-Harry can occasionally hide his lightning scar - that comes in handy, too.

Pattinson look
For Twilight, Rob's hair alone had a make-up artist. The producers wanted to use a wig at first, but eventually decided against it. That's how the Pattinson look was created, a look guys everywhere are envious of. (Advantage: Pattinson)

Getting away from childhood stardom
Dan doesn't want to become a typical childhood star. Under no circumstances does he want to stay Harry Potter forever. That's why he began acting on stage on taking other roles very early. By now, he's convinced even the most hardened critic of his abilities.

Vampire. Then what?
Up till now, we've known Rob mainly as a vampire. A very cold part he couldn't really use to present his acting skills. Soon, though, portraying artist Salvador Dalí will bring him points in that category. (Advantage: Radcliffe)


Cricket
Dan's occupying himself actively and passively with the most British of sports, cricket. Unfortunately, no one but the Brits can understand it. In any case, this is a special kind of thing to be passionate about.

Rob's crazy about football, he's a fan of Arsenal London. The old team of ex-goalkeeper Jens Lehmann [of the German national football team] unfortunately hasn't won much in recent years. (Draw)

No teenager has more cash than Daniel Radcliffe! He earned a whopping 25 million euro in 2007 and 2008 alone. And that's not even counting the first HP movies. Daniel definitely is quite a catch!

Independent movie salary
Rob is on his way of becoming one of Hollywood's a-listers, but so far, the balance on his bank account is lagging behind. Twilight as well as other projects he was a part of were independent productions without much in the way of payment. (Advantage: Radcliffe)

Emma Watson grew up with Dan on-screen, and like him she grew up mightily. The little girl turned into a real beauty, with captivating intelligence and elegance.

Kristen Stewart

Whenever Dan shows up for premieres in a suit, he looks a little odd. He never quite manages to fill out the jacket with his slim shoulders. On his own he prefers wearing loose-fitting clothes, which sometimes appear a little run-down.

When the first HP movie was released, having the words Daniel Radcliffe and sex appeal in the same sentence was unthinkable. But by now, this has changed completely, most definitely since presenting his body on stage: The small boy has turned into a real man. With his beard and chest hair, the gangling youngster's not to everyone's taste, but that's what makes him so interesting.

With his wild hair and dreamy eyes, Rob makes women's hearts beat faster. Since playing Edward Cullen, he's practically being overrun by admirers. But even as Cedric Diggory he's already had an impressive appearance. And so it was him who had taken Cho to the Yule Ball, not Harry. When it comes to girls, Rob is one step ahead of Dan. We can't really make out a winner in this fight. Dan and Rob simply both are fantastic guys, and when they're appearing together - such as in the Harry Potter series - no wish is left unfulfilled.
