Default Harry Potter on Forbes' richest characters list

Forbes has produced a list of the riches fictional characters and Harry Potter came in at fourth behind Frodo Baggins, Winne the Pooh & friends and Mickey Mouse & friends.

Quote:
Creator: J.K. Rowling
Birth Date: 1998
Debut Role: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, a book
Known Associates: Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley

Bringing in more than $500 million in video game sales alone, this wizard-to-be has earned himself a spot on our list for the second year in a row. On and off the Quidditch field, Harry Potter is truly multidimensional--with fans in love with his books, movies, videogames and merchandise, Potter's creator, J.K. Rowling, earned an estimated $147 million last year and has a net worth of $1 billion, becoming the first author to qualify for a spot on our world's billionaire list (No. 552) based only on earnings from their writing.

Coming Attraction: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban on DVD & VHS (November 2004)

Cashing In: Scholastic, Bloomsbury Publishing, Warner Bros. Entertainment, Mattel, J.K.Rowling
It is important to note that the birthdate given is the date when Potter arrived in the US; 1997 was when Harry first appeared on shelves anywhere (UK).

The BBC also has coverage of the list, saying:

Quote:
In order to qualify for the Forbes list, characters must have debuted in a narrative story on screen, in print or in a videogame.
Quote:
TOP-EARNING FICTIONAL CHARACTERS

1. Mickey Mouse and Friends
2. Winnie the Pooh and Friends
3. Frodo Baggins, Lord of the Rings
4. Harry Potter
5. Nemo, Finding Nemo
6. Yu-Gi-Oh!
7. SpongeBob SquarePants
8. Spider-Man
9. Wolverine, X-Men
10. Pikachu, Pokemon

Maybe we'll see our

That's the thing about
Hogwarts.
No matter
how long you're away from it, there's always a way back.
