The National Year of Reading campaign and networking site Piczo ran a survey entitled Read Up, Fed Up which involved 1,340 children aged 11 to 14. Harry Potter featured on both the most and least loved reads lists. Quote:
Honor Wilson-Fletcher, director of the National Year of Reading insisted: "We should all appreciate that many young people are reading creatively - widely yet selectively.
"Teens are challenging our traditional definitions of reading as being all about books but reading enthusiastically nonetheless."

It is strange how HP is on both lists. I love reading HP. I think Shakespeare is fantastic to read. Some of the things in the most loved list I've never heard of. With the not so liked list, I think about half of the items are interesting to read.

It's quite interesting. Most of my friends are divided in the same way, mostly because they don't know what the series is about, and consider it's only a faerie tale, or because they're the kind of people who only read non-fiction.

People who haven't read the book dislike Harry Potter very much. Think of all the people that tried to ban it from schools and libraries. People think it's evil and a money-making machine rather than appreciate it. They are bias because they have never actually picked up the books themselves.

Most kids like Anne Frank bc it is relatable!
HP is hard for some kids to read all the way through bc as the books progress, they are more adult and younger kids are reading them!! I am sure they love the stories they just can't always read the books themselves!
As for Shakespeare, it is a Love to Hate it relationship, they enjoy the concept of the stories, most kids just don't want to take the time to read them!!
