| | | Harry Potter & the HBP is a mailout success
The Courier, a newspaper sent to all Royal Mail workers, today reports that the delivery of ' Half-Blood Prince' was a mailout sucess.
Ray Poole, a postman for Oldbury, dressed up as Albus Dumbledore to deliver more than 60 copies on his day off. Quote: |
"It was great fun and I even had a few youngsters waiting at the doorstep for me to arrive, they were so keen to get their hands on the book. They were thrilled when they saw me coming up the drive in fancy dress."
| Royal Mail HGV Driver was involved in the sortation and storage of the books. He said, Quote: |
"We all knew what an incredibly high-profile contract this was, so making sure the collections and delivery operation went smoothly and without mishap was important to us all. We went out of our way to get the books into the system as quickly as possible so that the whole operation got off to the best possible start."
| EMDC forklift driver Matthew Millership said, Quote: |
"It was a massive challenge - myself and nine colleagues had to shift more than 2,500 cages full of mail in a single day - but we worked enormously hard and pulled it off. It was a great day which gave us a huge sense of achievement."
| Notthingham postwoman Melanie Fisher said Quote: |
"I am a big fan of Harry Potter myself and I know how disappointed people would have been if we had messed up. We pulled all the stops out to make sure every copy was handled quickly and accurately and sent out to delivery offices as soon as possible."
| Postman Mark Evans, part of a 45-strong team in Ludlow, covered a huge area of around 100-square miles. Quote: |
"We were surprised at how many Harry Potter books we handled. It was a really busy day for us, but we got every copy out to the doorstep without fail and were proud of how well we performed."
| Partnership director Nicola Faulkner who manages Royal Mail's relationship with Amazon.co.uk, said, Quote: |
"This was a magnificent effort and an excellent demonstration of the way our sales and operational people can work together on a major contract."
| Commercial Contracts Manager Graham Siswick said, Quote:
"This is a massive national contract and despite having to deliver more than 500,000 items to addresses the length nd breadth of the country, we managed 99.9 per cent quality of service.
Which of our competitors could have matched that reliability at such a great value price? Our people have put up a magical performance that even Harry Potter would have been proud of."
| The Royal Mail delivered 500,00 copies in total; 300,000 being for Amazon.co.uk. The total of missorts came to 0.06 per cent.
And to answer a question some of you may have, yes my father works for the Royal Mail, that's how I got the paper

| | | Hehe, the guy who dressed up as Dumbledore's cool!! They'd probably think him made if he came along our street. Kind of like Dumbledore stepping into Privet Drive. Quote: |

| Mark Evans? What a coinscedence, doesn't happen to be the illegitamate son of Lily and Snape does it? Ah, that was a good ol' theory.
Good on them for putting in the effort to deliver the books as soon as possible, the whole world truley went Potty for a day. And imagine seeing Dumbledore walking down your street, what a great guy to do that! |

| That is so cool! I like how the one guy dressed up as Albus Dumbledore. That's a creative thing to do, lol. I would do that! Except I might pull it off better if I looked like Hermione Granger. |
