| | |  Harry Potter films special Spike TV SCREAM Awards 2011 tribute to include cast member
It was announced today that a special tribute to the Harry Potter series will be featured on Spike TV's SCREAM Awards 2011, to air on October 18, 2011, but will take place days prior.
The press release, which also announced an exclusive new look at Daniel Radcliffe's The Woman in Black, can be read below. UPDATE: The reps for the tribute have stated that information thus released to SnitchSeeker may have changed from what was originally announced, so at the moment please believe what is in the press release below. A cast member of the Harry Potter films, however, will be taking part in the tribute, as also confirmed by Entertainment Weekly; we will have more information on this soon.  Spike TV's "SCREAM Awards 2011" Bids Farewell to the "Harry Potter" Franchise With Special Tribute
After eight films, nine Academy Award nominations, and years of inspiring millions of fans worldwide, Spike TV will say goodbye to the "Harry Potter" films as it presents the ultimate farewell tribute to the blockbuster franchise at its "SCREAM Awards 2011." The sixth annual event, which honors all things sci-fi, fantasy, horror and comic books, will tape at Universal Studios on Saturday, October 15, and premiere on Spike TV on Tuesday, October 18 (9:00 – 11:00 PM, ET/PT).
"The superstars and superheroes who are coming to SCREAM this year do it because they love and appreciate these fans for their unparalleled passion," said Casey Patterson, executive producer of "SCREAM Awards 2011" and executive vice president of event production for Viacom Media Networks Entertainment Group. "We have a lot of Scream-worthy surprises for the fans this year."
Spike TV's "SCREAM Awards 2011" will also feature world premiere footage from some of the biggest releases of the next 12 months. The show will include never-before-seen previews of "Total Recall," "The Woman In Black," "Paranormal Activity 3" and "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows," with many more films to be announced shortly.
The reboot of one hallowed franchise and the thrilling final chapter of another will battle it out for many of the night's top honors, as "X-Men: First Class" and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2" both nabbed 14 nominations, among them "The Ultimate Scream," and "Best Director." Two other Marvel Comics franchises joined "X-Men: First Class" to round out the top four, with "Captain America: The First Avenger" and "Thor" receiving 11 and nine nominations, respectively. Among television franchises, HBO's "Game of Thrones" and "True Blood" each tallied seven nominations, with AMC's "The Walking Dead" up for six "SCREAM" awards.
