Harry Potter films give Time Warner Inc a boost

Yahoo News reports that Harry Potter has helped conjure up higher profits for the film company that runs Warner Brothers Studios, Time Warner Inc.

Quote:
Time Warner announced a second-quarter profit of 777 million dollars, topping Wall Street forecasts as the Harry Potter franchise provided a spark at the world's biggest media-entertainment firm.
Quote:
A big contributor to the quarter's results was the cinema division, which includes the The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter franchises, reflecting sales of merchandise and DVDs in addition to box office receipts.

"Notable theatrical releases during the quarter included Warner Bros. 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban' and 'Troy,' which to date have generated worldwide box office receipts of 703 million and 484 million dollars respectively," the company said.

Time-Warner, owner of the Warner Brothers studio which made the Harry Potter film, is the worlds largest media company.

Time Warner are such a big company, I've studied about them in Media Studies this year. I dunno what to say about this, just that I hope WB will keep supporting HP through all the films. Well they will do, 'cos they must be making millions from HP!

that's great!! this means they'll obviously continue to make all seven films, even though it was pretty obvious they would from the beginning-i mean why would they stop in the middle?
