| | |  Harry Potter DVDs disapparating from store shelves
As we reported this past summer, Warner Bros. has decided to pull Harry Potter DVDs from store shelves in 2007. This has been confirmed on davisdvd.com: Quote:
The first three films - Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - will go on moratorium on January 5th, 2007. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire will become unavailable beginning on January 22nd. There is no word on when they will become available again, though rumors state that there may be Hi-definition special editions in the works. | |

I noticed the DVDs on sale in several stores around Christmas time. It looks like a good time to stock up  .
I'm reminded of Disney with this and the infamous 'Disney Vaults.' I'll be looking for special editions at some point for sure. I'm hoping for director and actor commentaries on the next set.

I do not doubt that OoTP will be available on DVD. It is possible that the whole series (as special editions) will become available again when Phoenix is ready to come out on DVD. Only time will tell I suppose.

I already own all of them on DVD, but why would they TOTALLY take them off store shelves? Never heard of WB doing that before...strange/ At least it's 2007! the year of OOTP!!!!!!!

i already own all the dvds so it doesn't affect me but it sounds like WB is doing what Disney does because you can't get a lot of Disney movies anymore on DVD... i'm pretty sure OOTP wil come out on DVD but probably after acouple of months they will pull it

This is interesting, Warner Brothers is pulling a Disney. I have a feeling though, that like Disney, the movies won't up and dissapear, they just will not be getting restocking shipments, meaning the stores can finish selling the stock they have but will not get any new movies for a time being. I am sure that the next movie will come out on DVD and they will probably do the box sets, if not after this one, then definatly at the end of the series

 WHAT? This is so stupid!  Disney did this with their DVD's too. And they "bring them back from the vault" newly restored. It's not like HP is an old animation movie made in the 1970's. It's brand new! They just want to get money for when the next movie comes out by releasing it in a box set. Idiots.

Thank goodness I got the 2 disk edition of GOF for x-mas  But OotP will probably be out on DVD and possibly blu-ray disk. Most people have DVD players now, and it wouldn't make sense for the movie to not come out. What else would it come out in if not on DVD? No one really buys VHS anymore. But why are they lifting them from shelves? So strange
