[img]http://www.snitchseeker.com/images/news/hp_grandpre_80.jpg' align='middle'> Harry Potter double feature fizzles at NY theat - Summary:
The Riviera Theatre in Tonawandan, New York, scheduled a showing of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets as a double feature this past weekend but to their dismay only eight people showed up for what was expected to be a sold-out show, leaving the usually busy theatre quiet.
Theatre manager Jim Kretz attributes the low turnout to other area events and a lack of advertising for the special show.
"There's a lot of stuff going on today. I think a lot of people are out shopping or at the Bills game. The Lord of the Rings may have had something to do with it as well."
The theatre will hold the screening over until next weekend with hopes that more people will show up for the second run, Kretz said. Article:

It would have been interesting to watch both movies one after the other, though.

Well, the idiots could have at least advertised more.
If you show it... they may not come
If you advertise it... you may have to turn some away. Dumb... d-dumb dumb...dumb

Well plus, most people already havy both movies/DVD's at home. So why pay to go see them, maybe they should try the same thing when POA comes out and there might be more interest???

I would of gone as well but LOTR most likely did have alot to do with it as well as bad advertising as he said. My movie theatre had a showing of all 3 LOTR movies and it was sold out within an hour.

| Hmm, pretty interesting idea. They should have thought to advertise more. I think the books are better than the movies though. |

They should show all three when PoA comes out. Only eight people went? Heehee...If I lived in New York it would have been nine people.

i would most deffinately have gone if i lived in that area, and more than likely would have brought some of my friends who also like HP with me. and i don't have either of the movies on DVD so this would have been fun for me... only eight people?

It was probably just bad timing cuz other theaters were showing all three LotR movies at once and they were selling out. Tuff competition. I would have been ther tho

I would understand people not going because of LOTR. It was a great movie! I would have gone to the double feature though.

i would have gone, but i think they should wait for POA, i think they did that with LotR, they showed the first two then the Third one. I think it would be awesome to see the first two HP's then the POA which you haven't seen. it would be so much more fun! if i was in NY there would have been 9 people at that show
