Last night, SnitchSeeker attended the unveiling of Warner Bros' new expansion to their studio tour - Stage 48: Script to Screen. This new addition to the
Warner Bros Studio Tour Hollywood is located in a former sound stage right in the middle of Warner Bros' movie lot in Burbank, California. Tour guests can now get a hands-on look at the process for making films – from scripts to production design, casting to costuming, and special effects. The building also features sets from some iconic TV shows such as
Friends and
Two and a Half Men, and offers many interactive stations - for designing costumes and more.
One of the coolest parts of the Stage 48 experience is the green screen booths that allow visitors to place themselves in an action scene from the films
Harry Potter,
The Dark Knight and
Gravity. For Potter, guests don a Hogwarts robe and are seated on a broomstick. Then they’re able to watch themselves – via a monitor - as they fly through various parts of London and the English countryside on their way to Hogwarts Castle. Souvenir photos of the experience are available for purchase.
Along with the green screen booths in the special effects area, there is also a motion capture station, where visitors can stand in front of a screen with Dobby the House Elf on it and when they move, Dobby copies their actions. For those who have been to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, it’s very much like the skeleton interactive wand station in Knockturn Alley.
There are several Potter references throughout the sound stage area. In the casting section, there are headshots of various actors on a table that guests can activate to see an actor’s audition tape. Both Emma Watson and Dan Radcliffe are featured.
Hanging from the ceiling of the sound stage, guests can see Mr. Weasley’s flying Ford Anglia how it is meant to be seen and, in the production design area, there is a short video on Stuart Craig, set designer for the Potter films.
Stage 48: Script to Screen also features a large gift shop with loads of Harry Potter merchandise, as well as items from other movies and TV shows. We spotted some new Potter goodies there, including Pigwidgeon plushes, Gryffindor Quidditch duffle bags and light up Swords of Gryffindor.
Stage 48: Script to Screen, which is only accessible to guests of
Warner Bros Studio Tour Hollywood, opens tomorrow, July 16. You can see more images from our visit
