| | | Half-Blood Prince video game preview, review, details & screenshots
In the run-up to the release of Electronic Arts' Half-Blood Prince video game, several pieces of news have emerged around the product.
First up is a piece. on the game for mobile phones; Quote:
The game can seem a tad mundane, as you walk from one end of Hogwarts to the end for the tenth time, but there are several factors that make you forgive Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince almost entirely. Firstly, each chapter is littered with optional mini-game challenges.
Quote:
Even more important than these mini-games is the fact that Harry Potter and the Half Blood-Prince is so convincingly Potter-esque that fans can’t help but be charmed. The characters are here, with their respective likenesses intact, and the moodier look of Hogwarts environment suits the tone of the later Potter films down to the ground. In short, this is a faithful and entertaining game of the film that fans will love.
IGN have published another preview today, this time for the Nintendo DS platform, complete with new screenshots, some of which can be seen here; Quote:
For Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, we're getting a slight throwback to the days of the point-and-click adventures. Players control Harry in a game that follows closely along with the script prepared for the movie, but having conversations with several non-player characters and performing fetch quests for anyone that needs a specific item to move the story along. Early in the game players are quickly introduced to a game of Quiddich to get accustomed to the touch-screen controls – Harry is apparently promoted to the House Captain this year, and you'll now play in a scoring position that's not the boring ol' seeker. This version of Quiddich takes place in a top-down 2D engine (a la NHL Hockey) and players use the touch screen to flick the quaffle into the hoops.
Finally there is also news. on the emotional range of the character for the XBox and XBox 360 platforms. Quote:
For the first time in a Harry Potter game, it’s really possible to read the emotion in characters’ faces as they talk, thanks to the advanced facial animation system that’s been used. And it’s not just that the characters in the game look right and sound right - they moved right, too. EA has made every effort to perfect the animation for all the action in the film. To capture the moves that Harry can make on his broomstick it wasn’t enough to film a stuntman in a studio to get a decent approximation. Instead, one of the game team built a complete broomstick rig in his kitchen at home, bringing it in so the animators could experiment with every possible move by ‘flying’ one themselves.
The game, which will go on sale June 30th in the U.S. and July 3 in the U.K. and Australia, can be pre-ordered at Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk. |

I thought they said the game was really free and you could like choose how to play the game, remember?
Now they say it follows the script closely...Hm....
We´ll see what the game`ll be like.
But the fetch-quests sound a bit boring...
But I caaaaaaaaan`t wait for the game to be released!

Thank you for the Info, SnitchSeeker! :-) Each game is slightly different, depending on the platform. That description was about the DS.
