| | |  Half-Blood Prince Australian release date petition
Some dedicated Potter fans in Australia have put together an online petition to get the release date for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince moved up in the land Down Under. It was previously announced that the Australian release date for the film will be December 11, nearly three weeks after the U.K. and U.S. release date of Nov. 21.
In 2006, a similar petition containing more than 2,200 signatures was presented to Warner Bros. regarding the fifth film, and the release date for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was subsequently moved up from September 6 to July 12, in line with the U.K. release date.

Maybe it's because of competition with other films? If certain countries get them later too then it has a knock-on effect. Either way, I signed. But I don't think they're taking the mickey as much as last year.

WB always messes up release dates. They should make them EXACTLY the same in every country and then not keep changing them all the time.

I signed. Here's hoping it gathers enough support to have an effect. Three weeks is nearly a month and that's a rather large gap during which Australian fans will have to seriously monitor what they read, watch & hear, or else risk spoiling the film for themselves. Not fair to them, imo.

^ I think with Australia it's obviously a different issue entirely, otherwise it would be the same week as everywhere else. It's probably got to do with the schedules for other blockbusters and/or shipping of the film.

I think when a film as potentially successful as Harry Potter is released, it should be released on the same day all around the world, or at least as many countries as possible. Good Luck! Hope you can get them to move it forward! x
