 Hagrid possibly not the Half-Blood Prince? - fans claim JK said it's not him Summary:
JK Rowling ruled out Hagrid as a possible Half-Blood Prince candidate at the Edinburgh book reading in August. Article: Quote: Two separate MuggleNet readers have written in to say that JK Rowling ruled out Hagrid as a possible Half-Blood Prince candidate at the Edinburgh book reading last August. She revealed this to both readers independently after being asked in the book tent. "Note that we cannot say with 100% accuracy this is true, but both readers had UK-based IP addresses and solid alibis..." Consider this a good rumor, but not yet a fact. I don't think it's Hagrid anyway, I never did.
I still think the HBP is going to be a new character - possibly the character that JK gave us an excerpt on a few weeks ago.

Yes, I agree.
I think it will be a character we already know of, but doesn't yet have much importance. Or possibly someone new. I never thought it would be Lupin or Hagrid because being a 'half-breed' isn't the same as being a 'half-blood'.

I for one will say that I did, and still do, think its Hagrid. I'm not sure why, but I feel like Hagrid's got a big future ahead of him, no pun intended.

I hope its a new character--or one that makes me slap my forehead and say, "Why didnt I figure that out?" when we find out who it is.
I really dont think its Dean because JK said she gave up his path of discovery for Neville's. I never really though it was Hagrid either--he's considered a half-breed, not half-blood, right?

I mean it would just be so cool and would most likely make us slap our foreheads and ask over and over agian, "why on earth didn't i think of that!" lol. i mean it's just such excellent writing if was like that. great literature in my opinion.
and it does makes perfect sense; half-breed is not quite the same as half-blood. i can't wait for all our questions to be answered.

I'm still as stumped as ever about who the HBP is, but I never thought it was Hagrid.
Just FYI, JK said that any part of the HBP story line was erased from COS. She said that the link between the two books had to do with what Harry discovered in the chamber. So I'm thinking maybe it's do to with him pulling out the sword and being a true gryffindor...Who knows!

By the way, the thing about the connection between Book 2 and Book 6 has nothing to do with the HBP. She said, if my memory serves me right, that Harry would discover something about a character and has nothing to do with HBP.
She did say that clues were planted throughout all books...

I never thought it was Hagrid to begin with. I think it's going to be a new character, or possibly someone mentioned just in passing. But it'll probably be a new one. Either way, I can't wait!
