| | | Government ministers praise Potter The Daily Mirror has today quoted Gordon Brown (Chancellor of the Exchequer) and David Blunkett (Work and Pensions Secretary) who have both praised the Potter series. Quote:
Mr Brown, a personal friend of author JK Rowling, was unstinting in his praise for the sought-after series when he insisted: "It's one of our greatest exports, one of our greatest success stories.
"And I think JK Rowling has done more for literacy around the world than any single human being."
Asked which character he would most like to be, Mr Brown replied: "I think I'd like to be Harry because of his courage, his intelligence and how he's triumphed over just about every adversity."
Quote:
Mr Blunkett smiled: "I'd like Harry to learn more about coping with women and, when he does, we can learn from it." Ever the romantic, Mr Blunkett also said he hoped Harry's friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger will find true love.
"I'd like Hermione and Ron to actually get engaged and get it together properly," he added.
But the character he'd most like to be is one who died in book five.
Mr Blunkett said: "I think it'd have to be Sirius Black ... he had the most enormous moral courage, he actually was prepared to sacrifice, he went through hell and he was destroyed in a good cause."
The programme, Harry Potter at the Castle: Magic at Midnight, which airs tonight at 11:45pm on ITV1, will feature the ministers opinions as well as those of other celebrities.

Ahh, Snoggy, seems we both liked this part | "I'd like Hermione and Ron to actually get engaged and get it together properly," he added. | So true it is, though ^.^ I'm proud of JK. It takes a VERY creative person to come up with a story this masterful, and someone totally awesome to be able to put it to paper. Any book that has children, adults, and the suits reading it has to be one that is great. And I don't think I'd be here if I didn't think that. |

JK has bridged the gap between child and adult tastes so well. It's amazing how many people from all age groups love her work. Well done!

I think anyone who thinks that HP is satanic must be very insecure about his/her god
