| | | GoF will be a PG-13 TV Guide reported yesterday that ' Goblet of Fire' would be given a PG-13 rating in the US due to sequences of fantasy violence and frightening images."
It has now been confirmed by WB that the fourth film will indeed have that rating.

| o yea i just want to point out that im only like 11 and i go to PG-13 movies all the time. i never see PG movies. and ive seen 7 year olds get into those kinds of movies before. once this lady and her kid went into the movie theater together but went to different movies. so littler kids will still be there, if there dedicated like me. |

Actually, I was sort of hoping they'd up the rating because they can't just keep the events dull to satisfy the FCC or whoever that it is appropriate for small children. The movies are going to be as dark as the books, because if they aren't, I - and many other fans - would feel cheated. The fact is, if you can handle the books, you should be able to handle the movies. Which doesn't necessarily mean that they are going to make the movies rated PG all the time. It's unfortunate that this has to matter, but it does. |

| I'm glad it's PG-13. I was hoping PoA would have been PG-13, but it was just PG. Quote: |

| I'm glad to hear about the rating. It means they won't be cutting half of what should be seen in the graveyard scene. |

| I hope that given the PG-13 rating means that it is going to be awsome. Oh and for anyone that doesn't know the trailer is in the Sky High movie trailers. |

| I'm also not surprised that Potter film got a PG-13 rating. Heh, I remember December 2003 when a lot of people wanted PoA to get a PG-13 rating. However, since the film will be rated PG-13, I am filled with even more interest as to the special effects. And perhaps its also PG-13 because of a bit of romantic tension. People noticed that there was a lot more romantic sort of things in the PoA film, and there's even more so in the GoF book, so there'll probably be more in the GoF film? (Plus, I've seen some on the previews)
I just wonder now if the PG-13 rating will hold up for OotP and HBP (assuming they're filmed)? As each book gets darker, it's probably more likely that they'll stick with PG-13 ratings, though there wasn't as much dark special effects in OotP, but who knows what they'll do?
And this little evil side of me wants that if there's a film for Book 7, it should be rated R. No idea where that came from especially since the book isn't even written yet, but it'd be interesting. |

| As most of you, I'm not surprised either. The movie probably would have sucked if it wasn't PG13 cause they would have watered everything down. It makes alot of sense-the books are getter older and more violent. As the fans of the book grew up, so did the books. They aren't PG books anymore, which is all the better. In the 5th movie maybe it would be R cuz of the fighting at the end of the movie It won't be R. It isn't that bad, and then they would lose tons of money cause most of the fans wouldn't be able to go without sneaking in. |

But I was relatively worried about the rating, and I am glad it is pg 13. There are a lot of little kids who watch, and if they cut out the unfogiveables it will make little sense. |

| I knew it! and I'm proud and glad they went for it. I really don't think they can do the movie without keeping it true to the book which means keeping everything that was written=pg.13 and there's nothing wrong with that |

| I thought J.K. was contracted with Warner Bros. or some such nonsense for 7 movies...and yeah, they cut out enough from PoA, y'know, so It'd be dreadful to see the important parts cut from GoF. |

Younger audiences might decide to put it off to watch it untill they're older, otherwise their parents might. They might think the books aren't scary enough to be putting off the reading, but I reckon the scary images of a movie will. |

| I think that parents will still let their little kids see it, I mean there were 5 year old in Bad Santa and that was rated R. I can't wait for it to come out GoF was my favorite book! |

| Good. I don't think they'd have been able to do the book any justice if they'd "cleaned it up," so to speak, for younger audiences. But parents will still probably allow younger kids to go, since it's not like dirty or anything, just slightly frightening. |

| OOh neat! Do they force the PG-13 policy where you all live? I work at a theatre and Pg-13 doesn't really matter. We let 10 year olds in because usually Pg-13 isn't that big of a deal. Now if it was R that would be a differn't story. I'm so excited for this movie! Woot! |
