In this new interview in Empire Magazine, director Mike Newell lays to rest the speculation that GOF would be split into two movies.
"As far as I'm concerned it's absolutely possible to do it in one.
I think it would be slightly embarassing to do it in two" says the director in the March issue of the magazine available on newstands now. |

I'm SO glad to hear thats its gonna be one film, but I read in another interview with Mike Newell that he'd make it one film but want to warp the plot line a bit to fit it into a 2 hour 40 minute film. That would totally destroy all the importance of the reason that book is that long. Alot happens and you can't just warp a plotline of a book that detailed. Am I right? It just wouldn't work. I would love to see the full installment of the GoF on the big screen. If I have to I'll make a patition regarding this issue. And he garanteed a PG-13 rating on this film, due to the climactic scenes in the movie. If we gotta make it two films to add everything, then do it...but the GoF must have it all...

Alot of people dont think it could fit 2 and 1/2 hours. I, however do.
The Quidditch wont take a huge amount of time and neither will the tasks. If you think about it, the book is that big because of the action needing vast descriptives. Films dont describe they show so logically it could work.

^I completely agree.
I can't wait to see Gof! It'll be so exciting to watch the Quidditch World Cup, the Triwizard Tournament, and other cool scenes!

I think GoF will be fine in one movie because really you can't leave anything out of the plot because everything is crucial.

What length is it actually going to be though?
*skimmed the article*
I'm glad it's one movie though; I don't think I could wait any amount of time to see the rest after watching the first half.

I hope they keep in as many bits from the book as possible..even if that does mean a 3 hour film ..if it is anyway near as good as the lord of the rings retun of the king was I think I could stand a numb bum. :sorcerer:

I Can not believe this!!! The GOF is a huge book for a reason, you would need at least 4 hours if you want to make it all into only 1 movie!!! > | |

There is NO WAY that they should consolidate GoF into 2 1/2 hours long.. that is way too short. what i think that they should do is make it into a 4 hour movie with maybe a 5-10 min intermission. if the directors of Titanic can make it four hours long, then so can the GoF directors!!

4 hours would take double the time to film. Which equals an even lesser chance of them doing OoP as the kids would've grown double as much. think about these things.
It's also a bit presumptuous to think you know better than an experience director.

Mike Newell should make GoF into a 2hr film as long as he knows how to remain true to the book. And I don't think he'd settle for a 2hr movie if he didn't know how.

hmmm....odd proposition...if it was two u dey could make more money AND we'd be able to see the stars more hmmm....dey'd probably leave us in a cliff hanger tho and i HATE to wait...if dey had only one...den it's cheaper for the people who want to see it...it would be kinna full...but der would be less details...i want in two parts...if i could wait for the third movie to come i guess i could wait for the 1st part in nov 15 and the second one in christmas...dat'd be great!! but i hope the DvDs would be sold in one piece instead of two
the movie shouldn't only be 2 1/2 hours long cause HELLO!! lord of the rings had 3 hours!! on ders and like soem people sed titanic had 4!! so why not make the HP movie longer??

Because we'd have to wait longer for it. It would take many more months to film and would increase the chance of OoP not being done at all. I've said this twice now, I'm not saying it again. It's ridiculous for people to think they know better than an experienced director. besides, JK must have approved the length first. |

I really happy that HP is going to be one movie! If it was two, we would have to wait a lot longer for the 2nd half and for the other 3 movies. I don't know about everyone else but I definitely don't want to wait a long time.

| It would be ok if there were 2 movies, but only if they would come one after another, not two years apart (you understand what I mean, don't you?). But I like the one movie idea better.

I wouldn't mind if it were4 movies. The longer, the better. It would be nice if the movie had everything that happened in the book. But then it would be closer to around 23 movie... Oh well

Thank God they decided to make 1 movie for GoF. This means that the actors would have more time to do the fifth movie.
