GoF Report from filming of the 'Pensieve' scenes - another set report! Summary:
HP4U has provided yet another report, this time from the set of Goblet of Fire! Article: GoF Report from filming of the 'Pensieve' scenes HP4U has posted the first part of their exclusive report detailing the Pensieve scene from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, which was filmed recently.
The entire report, the first part of it, can be found here (Note: It does take a while to load, probably because the page is under such high demand).
Here are some excerpts. Beware, MAJOR set/costume/plot spoilers! The setting, fire and camera angles Quote: The set is the most amazing thing ive EVER seen.
All the seats are raised in tiers, just like in the book and its all been made in a huge octagonal shape. The most amazing thing is the use of fire - real fire. There is a huge fireball lit in each corner and is used for the effect of the flames - its awesome and made to look from the 360 degree camera as though its in Dumbledore's memory (which of course it is). Artwork, set decoration and lots of papers! Quote: Made of course to look as though Harry has gone back in time, imagine Dickens and all those old bookshops, or Ollivanders, stacked full of items, this is the effect of the court, full, stacked with mountains of papers!.The artwork and set decoration of the court room is immense, it looks ancient, Byzantium times, the old ruined golden paintings and the realism was great. Azkaban guards as seen in PoA, torture and the stand Quote: THE greatest prop was the "cage" Karakov has to stand in, so much like a torture chamber, guards standing around him, prodding and poking him, turning head screws when he wouldn't give up the names of the other Death Eaters. These are guards from Azkaban and NOT Dementors as with the original book, police type figures for the escorting of Prisoners. The cage mechanism and more torture! Quote: The cage is something like a medieval cage evil men were put in alive to rot. He doesn't actually go into the cage or come in with it, instead, he comes up from the ground, shoots up into it!. There's two of these police type around him, to wind the screws in harder, he cannot move a centimetre ! What the guards look/act like Quote: they stand either side, to torture him and prod him! they are dressed in black, army style, almost like the old German Gestapo. They have a big silver badge that reads, ministry of magic, police, with a weird looking creature pictured. Rita Skeeter's dated costume Quote: Miranda Richardson, dressed in 1950's Hollywood style is just superb as the evil Rita Skeeter The report, which can be found in whole here ends with 'To be continued.....', so, judging by that comment, I'd say there's definitely more to come from this budding reporter!

I think this sounds great, especially the fire, the torture and the attention to detail such as the dated clothes of the characters - after all it is a sort of flashback. Cant wait!

thats good. I am looking forward to watching it. Quote: These are guards from Azkaban and NOT Dementors as with the original book, police type figures for the escorting of Prisoners. Thats good but i prefer dementors, they are more scary and add to the tone of the scene.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Remus James Lupin (RJ) Second Year | Gryfflepuff I am looking forward to GoF. I liked PoA well enough but wasn't totally sold on it. I didn't like the adjustments to the plot and changes that were made. I felt they hurt the movie. Yet this sound pretty close to book so I am excited about it.

Whoa, whoa, whoa... that is the coolest set report I've heard! How exciting! That scene sounds awesome, and it seems like they're giving everything a lot of care.
When I first heard about the cage for Karkaroff, I was kind of upset because it's not in the books, but it sounds pretty neat now. It's a sick idea, though....
Why was Rita Skeeter wearing '50's style clothing? Crouch's trial couldn't have been that long ago because Sirius saw Barty being brought into Azkaban, and he wasn't even born until 1960! Rita Skeeter should have been wearing a Madonna get up. lol.
Since JK allowed them to use Ministry/Azkaban Police, I guess it's safe to say that Azkaban will be able to function in Book 6 without the Dementors. I'm actually almost glad that they're not using Dementors for the scene, because I think they would have looked out-of-place floating about the courtroom.

The torture is more adult, yes, but that's what GoF is about. Darkness, death, torture and all that.
The trial must have been a while ago but maybe the fan got the decade wrong. Unless you're a fashion guru, it's an easy mistake to make.

Does it give me the warm and fuzzies? Nope, not quite.
That's sick... lol.

| Quote: I hope they use thumbscrews too. Emma starts pulling out all these instruments and showing them to Kloves and Newell. "You wanna use a stapler? No... um, how about a hammer? Not good enough? Ah, I've got it - Bamboo shoots!"
Now, I'm filing a restraining order against you, so please - stay away. Quote: Probably, however did you guess?! My great-grandmother was the famed seer Cassandra Trewlawney... and, I had a hunch. |
