| | | GoF on Imax
According to Variety via Sci Fi Wire, Imax is set to announce that it will once again do a Harry Potter film, this time for ' Goblet of Fire'. It should be released the same day it's released in conventional theatres in the US on Nov. 18th.
Source: Sci-Fi Wire UPDATE: An official announcement has now been made by Imax which means that officially GoF will appear in Imax cinemas from Nov. 18th.
"We believe releasing the next Harry Potter adventure in IMAX theatres will add to the excitement around this excellent film and enable audiences to experience it in a whole different way." said Dan Fellman, President of Domestic Distribution at Warner Bros. Pictures.
Added Greg Foster, Chairman and President of IMAX Filmed Entertainment, "The impressive performance of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: The IMAX Experience showed that Harry Potter is a perfect match for IMAX's immersive format, and we are confident the fourth installment of this globally beloved series will also be a box office draw for commercial and institutional IMAX theatres worldwide. The IMAX theatre network has expanded since the last Harry Potter release, and the increase in IMAX screens should yield even greater incremental box office returns for Warner Bros. Pictures." |

Definitions of Imax: Quote:
A film technology, developed in Canada, but now exploited in the United States. Huge cameras shoot huge rolls of film to be projected on to huge screens. In the IMAX theaters, the film is high enough and wide enough to include the whole visual field of the viewer, thus making the experience closer to that of the "mind movie".
Quote:
IMAX (for Image Maximum) is a film projection system which has the capacity to display images of far greater size and resolution than conventional film display systems. A standard IMAX screen is 22 m wide and 16 m high (72.6 x 52.8 ft), but can be larger. IMAX is the most successful large-format special-venue film presentation system.
Quote:
This high quality theatrical format using a large, panoramic screen must be played in a special type of movie theater.
Quote:
A new type of movie experience where the picture is usually a few stories high.

Sounds a bit scary, that Imax, if you ask me ... I mean seeing letīs say Hagrid even bigger than he already is might be, well, frightening, lol!

I saw the 3rd film on imax when it opened at 12:01 AM midnight. it was a great experience! except some of the fellow fans in the crowd started to become obnoxious because they were making all these noises during the film. it was a bit much...

I saw the third one in IMAX. My sister was going to go, but my nephew was born that day, so you know she was a little preoccupied...We started counting down the days 67 days before. I didn't see it @ midnight, but it was like 8:00ish the first day it came out. I will never forget my nephew's birthday...And yes, I hope that I can see the fourth one in IMAX as well. I saw the third one in IMAX, then @ the Star, then @ the dollar show...

I saw PoA on IMAX too! I didn't really like it as much, because I was seated somewhere on the side. Sort of in the middle, but not totally centered. AND the fact that it's like $15 each (a little over $5 more than usual), I think I'd rather see it in a regular theatre, and buy popcorn and a drink with the $5 I'll save . Anyway, doesn't matter how I see it, I'm so seeing that on the first day again!!!

I think the nearest Imax for me is about 2-2.5 hours away. I don't think that I'll be going to see it there. But it is great for the rest of you who can make it!
