After taking in $36 million at the box office this weekend, 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire' has taken over the top spot as the #1 grossing movie of 2005, overtakingStar Wars III: Revenge of the Sith. GOF has now taken in $850 million worldwide, putting it closer to passing Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secret's total of $877 million in 2002.
These new totals also put GOF at #11 in the list of all time most successful movies. You may see the list here.
I knew it would happen, with the Potter raze swirling around the globe. The game was in the bag, though GoF failed to impress me. It was popularized more than it deserved. Anyway, I'm glad for the sake of my "Harry Potter Love."
