This might sound odd, but I'm sort of glad it's about catching on with the apprentice working on the set, rather than wholly about the making of the film, mainly because it's only in the US... which leaves us UK fans out and we've managed to keep PoA in the top 5 still...okay, I'm bitter obviously.

What a shock it is American TRL not the UK TRL it is going to be like with POA isnt it that the USA gets all the behind the scenes tuff and we get nothing.
not fair it is obviously more popular here lol look at our movie charts lol POA no 5 lol jolly jokes. lol

Preach the truth! HP's had the same competition over here as it's had in the US with Blockbusters and in today's Mirror, it's still at number 5 in the UK charts. And it was released here five days before it was in the US.
Bring us some HP news!

I agree, with you guys, Marcella and Karen.
When it comes to Harry Potter and America I am fiercly defensive. I think its to do with the fact that it is a British thing. Any Ameicans would have got hold of the book after boook three over here was released. So, in reality, Harry has been in our world for about seven years. However in America its only been around for 4.
Will this be shown on TRL London aswell, dya reckon?
If not, could someonepost it up onto the net or something, so we can all get a look.
Thanx |

Since we're going to be bitter about the US getting everything, let's look at it monetarily, because I'm sure that's how the studios are looking at it. As of July 21 (from June 4), the domestic gross for PoA (US) is $239,661,642. The overseas gross up to July 18 was $434,000,000. The UK gross up to July 11 (and, as you pointed out, got it five days before everyone else, May 31) was only $79,400,000, while the Japan gross up to July 18--still a significantly shorter period of time, as they premiered the movie June 26--was $65,000,000.
So if we look at it monetarily, as I'm sure the studios are, they are giving previews to the audience which is bringing them the most money. I'm sure the studio doesn't care as much about what standing the movie is in in the box office quite as much as they care about how much money the movie is making. You may argue that the population in the US is larger than that in the UK and that is why we have more cash in the box office, but that only fuels the argument to show a preview in the US over the UK. I don't see why the programs don't work together and preview it at the same time. That's just ridiculous.
If I were going to choose an audience, I'd go with Japan, as in a very short amount of time they have raked in a ton of cash. I mean, in less than a month they have brought in a comparable amount to what it has taken the UK to do in about a month and a half.
As to why PoA hasn't stayed in the top 10 in the US, the summer is an aggressive time for movies. With the exception of the weekend PoA came to theaters, we have had at least two new movies every week come to theaters. People would rather see a movie they haven't seen than go again to see something they've already seen twice (or more), particularly when this summer has brought unusually good movies. So, much of the PoA the movie hype is over in the US, even though it isn't out of our theaters. As PoA is still making it big in the box office in the UK, that implies the hype hasn't died out quite as much and there isn't as much "need" to get people excited over the next installment.
I mean, really, send your complaints to the execs making the decisions. I'm sure they have no idea how slighted you feel and repeated complaints to them could proabably get some changes in your favor.

We spent time here. We made friends here. That's a part of us.
Cause Hogwarts is bigger than any of us, of any of it's founders,
and it's going to be around long after we're gone.
Maybe we'll see our kids come here one day.
That's the thing about Hogwarts.
No matter how long you're away from it, there's always a way back. |

Okay, first of all, I posted this very same message yesterday, and I am still mad at the fact that they didn't post it. Second of all, the show on trl doesn't come on on friday, it comes on on thursday. And thirdly, the reason PoA isn't still in the top ten in the US is because new movies come out earlier there than they do in the UK. So with all that being said, I can finally go to bed with all of my thoughts being stated. And until next time, Goodbye.
