| | | 'Goblet of Fire' Reviews by the dozen
Newsweek, USA Today, The New York Times and Roger Ebert have posted reviews for 'Goblet of Fire' and they all have been very positive! Newsweek Quote:
Newell ("Donnie Brasco," "Four Weddings and a Funeral") and screenwriter Steve Kloves have made the funniest, the scariest and possibly the most human of the series.
Quote:
The uncontestable triumph of "Goblet of Fire," however, is Brendan Gleeson's Alastor (Mad-Eye) Moody, the grizzled new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor.
USA Today Quote:
It was a more ambitious book to condense into a movie, given its 734 pages and dense plot. It's scarier than the previous three movies and more poignant.
Quote:
Ralph Fiennes is a terrifying Lord Voldemort, the evil wizard who killed Harry's parents and commands the fearsome Death Eaters. It is his first appearance in adult, humanized form, and the metamorphosis is chilling.
Roger Ebert Quote:
The film is more violent, less cute than the others, but the action is not the mindless destruction of a video game; it has purpose, shape and style, as in the Triwizard Tournament, which begins the film.
Quote:
With this fourth film, the Harry Potter saga demonstrates more than ever the resiliency of J.K. Rowling's original invention. Her novels have created a world that can expand indefinitely and produce new characters without limit.
The New York Times To read the entire article you must register with the site. Quote:
As good as these actors are, nothing prepares you for the malevolent force that is Lord Voldemort and the brilliance of the actor playing him, Ralph Fiennes. Dressed in a flowing black robe that seems to float off his body rather than hang, Mr. Fiennes moves with lissome grace, his smooth white head bobbing like a cork on a sea, his fluttery hands and feet as pale and bright as beacons.
Quote:
If Mr. Cuarón raised the series to a new level with "Azbakan," Mr. Newell, best known for ingratiating mainstream fare like "Four Weddings and a Funeral" and best remembered for the bracing likes of "Donnie Brasco," manages to keep his contribution at a similarly high level of enthrallment.

Now 16, Mr. Radcliffe pouts reasonably well, but has yet to develop the skill to make that pouting feel emotionally substantive. This might pose a serious obstacle for the films, but it hasn't yet, largely because watching him and his young co-stars - the excellent Rupert Grint as Ron, the touchingly earnest Emma Watson as Hermione - grow up onscreen has its dividends.
I *heart* the NY Times for calling Rupert excellent. |

I am so glad that this time around that Manohla Dargis (NY Times) hasn’t been that harsh with Dan compare to last year and the year before, coz he was WAY too critical with Dan in CoS and PoA.
Actually I am please with his review, knowing that he was so critical with Johnny Depp, writing about all his flaws in “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and also how harsh he was on Leonardo Dicaprio’s characterization on “The Aviator” which by the way got Leo an Oscar nomination, EAT THAT Dargis… .....no really I am glad and happy that he wasn’t that bad with him this time around like he was years before, this means maybe Dan is growing on him!!

I'm so excited we're heading to the theatre as soon as my boyfriend gets off work! At 5:30 cause even though I have my tickets I have no idea what the line will be like.

Isn't it great that articles that mention the trios acting always praises Rupert? They never have a bad thing to say. In fact, they never have in any of the four movies. |

They haven't and I'm glad of it. I have noticed that Dan's acting is getting better, so that means he's learning a lot. I think that when the 7th movie comes out (if they are still in it) he will be very good (at least I hope so).

There is also, finally, full-blown adolescence to contend with. I'd always thought Harry would end up in love with Hermione Granger (Emma Watson), even though their inseparable friend Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) clearly has the same ambition.
--Roger Ebert
Why most of the media thinks that Harry and hermione were going to get together, it is Ron/Hermione, I don't get it, everytime there is an interview with the cast they always asked about the Harry/hermione thing when we all know it is Ron and Hermione

Maybe we'll see our kids come here one day.
