| | | 'Goblet of Fire' gets a 12A rating in the UK CBBC Newsround is reporting that ' Goblet of Fire' has been given a 12A rating in the UK. This means that anyone under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. The British Board of Film Classification decided that the higher rating was needed as the fourth film is more frightening than the first three.
A spokesperson said, Quote:
"Examiners decided that the 12A was the most suitable category, as younger or more sensitive viewers could be frightened by some of the more intense scenes (which I can't reveal as you'd get upset with me!)."
"The ending was a shock too, although maybe if you have read the books, you'll be expecting it anyway. At 12A, we allow moderate level violence, but without focus on injuries or blood."
There's also an interiew with one of the examiners who explains how the film got its rating.
Additionally the BBFC lists the running time as 156m 54s. |

I think it should be rated with noise level of people as well as age so it should be like... PG Canadano more than 5 whispered words each...

It's a year different where I live too...which is practically the same. Basically, the point is, GoF is going to be somewhat "scarier" and more violent than the other three. But it'll be extra exciting!

We spent time here. We made friends here. That's a part of us.
Cause Hogwarts is bigger than any of us, of any of it's founders,
and it's going to be around long after we're gone.
Maybe we'll see our kids come here one day.
That's the thing about Hogwarts.
No matter how long you're away from it, there's always a way back. |

Like said above, most children under 12 or 13 don't go to the movies alone anyway. I think it's a good idea for the parents who haven't read the book have some warning about the movie. It really could scare some small children.

that's great!!! yay i'm really glad it's long..
and it isn't really a surprise that the movie got a 12A rating.. after all, it got a rating in the US, so it was expected to get a rating in the uk, too. great, though, i'm really glad it did..

I always thought that PoA was the longest movie so far!! It was only when i looked at the time on all of them that i saw i was wrong! I dont know what it is but PoA really does seem longer than the others!! But i dont think i would like Poa to be any longer. It does go off track sometimes. but it is like the movie that made me love everything Harry Potter so im not complaining!
I love that GoF is so long! The longer the better! But i dont think that every kid will want to sit for over 2 and a half hours!
I compleatly agree with the rating!! Thats what i thought it would be!
