Goblet of Fire film hope for two-legged dog - the BBC now highlight the matter Summary:
A few weeks ago a video emerged with a two-legged dog. The owner claimed that Maggie Smith (McGonagall) had expressed an interest in having the dog in one of the films as a prop for her Transfiguration class. Article: Goblet of Fire film hope for two-legged dog
A few weeks ago a member here at SS wrote an article about a two-legged dog (with a video included) that had caught Dame Maggie Smith's eye. The owner claimed on the video that the McGonagall actress had expressed an interest in using the dog for one of her Transfiguration classes in the Goblet of Fire film. The BBC has now printed an article which gives more information on the matter. The article does include a picture of the dog. Quote: The Stringfellow family said British trainers working on the film had not yet confirmed a part for Faith, who was born with the disability. Quote: The family has been contacted about the possibility of doing a few scenes in the fourth Harry Potter movie, The Goblet Of Fire, currently being filmed in the UK, but no plans have been finalised, they said. Quote: Over six months the family taught her to stand, hop and eventually walk and run on her two back legs. Source: BBC News via The Leaky Cauldron. |

I think it would be really nice for the dog to be in it. I didn't read the whole thing so I don't get why it would be there.

Thats strange, and I think a bit unnessary. Why would there just be a 2-legged dog in the story--I know its suppose to be for a class, but to me it doesnt fit. But thats fine if they want to use her.

I saw the movie in which they show the dog hopping on two legs - it's amazing how well animals (and humans too) can adapt to such handicaps if they start training early enough in their lives! I only fear for the dog's health in a few years; when she hops and runs like this she is straining her hip joints a lot which could give her a bad arthritis one day. Many dogs have hip problems when they get older, and a dog that overuses its hips so much might be very likely to suffer damage! I hope her owners have sense enough not to let her run too much and give her breaks when she needs them ...
