Post 'Goblet of Fire' Breaks Records in the US and UK

Excite News and CBBC Newsround have posted some box office figures from Goblet of Fire's opening weekend!

Excite News reports:
Quote:
"Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" grossed $101.4 million in its debut weekend, the best results yet for the franchise, according to studio estimates released Sunday.
Quote:
"Goblet of Fire" was the fourth-best, three-day opening weekend ever, behind "Spider-Man" at $114.8 million in 2002 and "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith" and "Shrek 2," at $108 million apiece.

CBBC Newsround reports:

Quote:
They said more than £14.9m of tickets were sold in the UK in the first three days of it hitting cinemas.
Quote:
That's the biggest ever opening weekend for a film in the UK, as well as the biggest takings ever for a Friday, a Saturday and a Sunday.
Quote:
Goblet of Fire has been a worldwide hit too, making $181.4m (£105.3m).

I'm not surprised seeing as the queue outside the Odeon on Friday night & Saturday morning was right round the block! I'm so happy I bought mine in advance.

sweet. I hope that since this film made the most money thus far, it'll allow the company to spend more on the films budget-wise, since it obviously has such a huge box office draw.

So the majority of the money was made in the US?

EDIT: Never mind... that would make sense, if it hasn't been released in a ton of places.

That's great! I'm sure they'll earn even more when the film is released in other countries!

Oh my!! *Squeespaz* That's really great! Hopefully, OotP will beat out everything, and be the best yet. That's enough money to paper the great hall with o_O.
