Found this on Wizard City:
A 4-year-old girl in North Carolina reportedly injured herself trying to fly on a broom like Harry Potter. A 4-year-old girl was critically injured after she apparently tried to fly after watching "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" movie, according to a Local 6 News report.
Authorities in Shelby, N.C., said that the girl watched the movie and then crawled onto a kitchen counter, straddled a broom and then jumped off.
This is yet another case in a few where people haven't thought about their own safety, but of course a young girl cannot be blamed for her actions. The last case of this was when a women blew up her kitchen trying to make a potion. Is it getting to a point where they'll have to label Harry Potter with a "Don't try this at home" note? |

Okay, it is the fault of these people: of course not a 4-year-old, but her parents should've been watching her. I hate when people try to blame their own stupidity or others, on something else.

Seriously now...the kid's parents or someone should have been watching her... we should just be thankful that she didn't try to jump off the roof with a broomstick... As for the lady....well.... she shouldn't have been crazy enough to mix the kind of things that she did to recreate a HP potion to which many of the ingredients don't exist....sometimes people scare me....

Well, this stinks. I mean, I feel for the girl, but this is what people were afraid of. Kids wanting to become witches and wizards. Now they have amunition to bash Harry Potter some more! But, it IS really sad about the girl getting hurt. | |

The woman blowing up her kitchen is kinda funny, but the little girl story is sad. And everyone is right, WHERE IS GOD'S NAME R HER PARENTS! My little cosin is 4, but she's like a 4 year old in a 12 year olds body. She's really smart, and she would never do that. And she loves HP has much as I do. She pretends, but thats good she has an imagination!

The incident with the little girl happened along time ago. I live in NC and remember hearing it on the news several months ago, unless it was a different incident. Parents should definitly start trying to teach their children, at a young age, the difference between make-believe and reality.
The lady blowing up her kitchen is just stupidity.

i can see a woman blowin up her kitchen funny, cuz adults should know better. but a 4 year old dosent know any better, so they need to be watched careully and tought whats real and whats not. but at least shes ok.

That little girls parents should have explained the difference between fiction and reality to her, I hope she didnt get too hurt. That Witch wanna-be blowing up her kitchen was quite amsuing though, I wonder what ingrediants she used?

u cant blame people for believing in magic! i mean its so well xplained and blah blah by JK. but people shudnt be stupid enuff to actually do stuff like flying a broom. i mean dint they read Quidditch through the ages, its written there that spells and charms were put on brooms to make it fly. so people shudnt attempt to fly as they do not have a wand and cant do magic. but the "DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME" sign is quite funny!

"BAN HARRY POTTER NOW" How can we let this kind of thing to happen. it's totaly disgusting that they haven't banned these books and films yet. BAN THEM i say BAN THEM.
Yeh right, come on tell the truth who cares about these accidents i dont if people/parents are dumb enough to let them happen then we shouldn't give them the column inches.
