Fancy dress parties took place all over France and Germany as
Deathly Hallows came out! Five hundred people had the patience to line up outside a bookstore in Paris, and long awaited parties in Berlin revved up the action.
Harry Potter et les reliques de la mort [French] and
Harry Potter und die Heiligtuemer des Todes [German] were released at 12:01 am.
Special sales were put on the book and a million copies arrived on trucks all across France. Jean-Francois Menard, the French Potter translater claimed he spent 12-15 hours everyday from 21st July to the 15th of September translating book 7. All in all, French publisher Gallimard has ordered a staggering 2.3 million copies to be delivered. Meanwhile in Switzerland, the first French copies were delivered by post because authorities refused to ease restrictions on shop opening hours so that stores could hold a midnight launch.
Over in Berlin today, fans frolicked in Potter costumes and even a Hogwarts Express replica greeted them! An estimated one million of the three million copies ordered will be sold in the first 24 hours!
