| | |  Fiona Shaw reprises Petunia Dursley role in Half-Blood Prince
The Internet Movie Database has listed Fiona Shaw, who plays Harry's Aunt Petunia in the Harry Potter films, to reprise her role in the forthcoming Half-Blood Prince.
Actor Richard Griffiths, who plays Vernon Dursley, stated months ago that he will not return for the sixth film to play Harry's uncle, so he will not be seen in the beginning of the film, in which Harry and Professor Dumbledore speak to the Dursleys before leaving Number Four, Privet Drive.
We are currently unaware of whether or not Harry Melling, who plays Harry's cousin Dudley, will be back as well, but will update when we receive information on the news. We do however know that the actor was present at the Half-Blood Prince wrap party.

I think people are getting a little confused ..
I don't think Richard Griffiths quit the movie's for good and won't return for DH, I just think he was unavailable for this one. I'm sure he'll be back for DH.

Huh? I thought they said that they were cutting the Dursleys from the movie? Well this is good news. But a bummer for me because I've been using all of my power to make a vision of how HBP was going to start out like w/o the Dursleys! Dang it. xD

I read from a website a couple months ago (I forgot which one) that Richard Griffith asked Rowling herself for a Uncle Vernon to have a larger part in the movie, and she said no. Does anyone think that that decision may have played a role in his not returning for HBP? just speculating....

At the end of the day, it is a small role, especially for someone established in the acting world. And what with schedules being jerked about, I can see how it might be annoying and might also clash with other commitments.
