In a recent interview Ralph Fiennes was asked about his role as Lord Voldemort in ' Goblet of Fire'. He admits he didn't know much about Harry Potter before but is now a part of the 'family'. Quote: So you've been cast as Lord Voldemort. Are you a Harry Potter fan?
I can't claim to be a Harry Potter fan, certainly before. Now, I guess I'm in the family a bit. But I didn't know much about who he was, so I had to do my research…. I wasn't really familiar with the whole world of Harry Potter. But I'm now very familiar with Lord Voldemort because [in low, evil voice] I am Lord Voldemort.

It's the hardest thing in the world to play pure, pure evil. I still don't know what it is.

We just talked about different levels of psychotic madness in people when you don't quite know what someone's gonna do. They could do anything -- they could slash your throat, they could put their arm around you and offer to be your best friend, and the next thing you know they turn really nasty. That sort of terrifying thing you see and read about.

he should be a great voldemort then..after all this preparation. well..im just glad the actors are putting a lot into their roles..he sure knows a lot about mad people! would you say voldemort is mad though? i think he's extremely sane..just power hungry

The more I read about Ralph talking about being Voldemort, the more excited I am about it.  I know he can play the baddie well, but you just never know how it's going to work until you see it on screen... but this gives me a lot of confidence. Quote:

^ Agree with Tao! It would be great to hear him say it, even though we will pretty soon.
Lord Voldemort isn't mad though. He knows perfectly well what he's doing. It's true that many villians are portrayed like that, especially when they splash it an engorged eye or something  , but that would certainly not be him.

I can just envision him having the time of his life saying that. How cool would it be to be able to say you were THE Lord Voldemort, THE Dark Lord. Wow.
I think he is mad. The word has varying means though; angry, psychotic. Both of which he is. His actions are hardly that of a sane man even if he is can be collected and eerily calm.

I think he's definitly angry, before everything with Harry and him losing his powers I think he just wanted to prove to everyone that he could the most powerful wizard in the world. However, after losing his powers and everything happening with Harry, I think he just wants revenge and he doesn't care how he gets it, which you're right can be taken as him being mad.
Whatever his psychotic state, I think it will be brilliant to finally see Voldie come to life on the screen, he's such a huge character within the world of HP that we need to see him. I know I'll get shivers down my spine when we see him and he says those words I am Lord Voldemort...  | |

I've noticed that a couple of people from harry potter didn't actually read the books until they were cast in the role. I think it was Dan Radcliffe who didn't read it. It's nice that he did research though, because it shows that he cares about doing his character right.

How does he know? Maybe he is evil too... *scared, tries to find a place to hide but fails* Man! Where's my Invisibility Cloack when I need it? lol, anyways I'm sure he'll be a fantastic Voldiemort
