'Fantastic Beasts' will have direct, clear 'Harry Potter' connections, Heyman states

While promoting the European release of the upcoming drama The Light Between the Oceans on Wednesday evening, producer David Heyman (who will reportedly bring a Willy Wonka backstory movie to life with Warner Bros.) commented for the first time about the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them series expanding to five movies, and how it ties very directly back to the Harry Potter saga.

HeyUGuys: How early on did you know that there were going to be five more films?
David Heyman:
Not long.

Look, it's great. I love being in Jo's world, I've been in it for a long time. It's great to return to it with Fantastic Beasts. It's a world that challenges you with endless possibilities, and if it's endless - boy, that's challenging in itself.

This film - I hope we get to do another one, and do four more, because, as it develops, more and more and more connections with the current Potter world - with Harry - will become clear. Already there are nuggets, but it just blossoms and blossoms, and the connections become more eminent. I think audiences will really love it.
Heyman is undoubtedly talking about the Dumbledore, Grindelwald, and Deathly Hallows ties to the series, which has already been confirmed by J.K. Rowling and past trailers for Fantastic Beasts, but it seems from the producer that there could be more (possibly even a glimpse at Tom Riddle and Voldemort in his youth).

Also, a new extended TV spot for Fantastic Beasts was released online, with a couple of quick new scenes with Tina Goldstein and Newt Scamander, as well as Graves, which can be watched below.
