'Fantastic Beasts' 2 spoilers out on Yusuf Kama's ties to Leta Lestrange & Credence
Rather surprising and spoiler-filled information regarding the new French wizard Yusuf Kama - set to debut in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald - was featured in the latest issue of EW, focused on the new movie out next month. HEAVY SPOILERS BELOW
The summary, released by Pottermore to EW (though not on their website yet) revealed that Kama's search for Credence in Paris was due to an Unbreakable Vow he made with... someone, though it does not say who.
Another surprising tidbit was that Kama was in fact Leta Lestrange's half-brother, through their mother. This does connect them to Credence, who has been rumored to be Leta's half-brother as well (through the Lestrange line). Quote:
Yusuf Kama, played by William Nadylam, is a French-African wizard who claims to be the last male member of his pure-blood family like, or so his official character description tells us.
Although we'e not seen much of this particular character from the trailers, we do know a few things about him - such as how he is on the hunt for another character we know a little better: Credence (Ezra Miller).
And, for the first time, we can reveal that Yusuf has actually taken an Unbreakable Vow to track Credence down - a magical promise meaning that if he doesn't fulfill his task, he will die. We saw Severus Snape make one of these vows during Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, promising to assist Draco Malfoy in Albus Dumbledore's murder. So, as you can see, Unbreakable Vows are usually reserved for quite serious things, rather than, say, promising to make someone a cup of tea.
Yusuf also has a connection to Leta Lestrange (Zoe Kravitz) in the new film: he's actually her half-brother. How? Well, again, according to his biography, Yusuf's mother was "taken" by an evil wizard named Corvus Lestrange, and ended up having a child with him - Leta. But why the obsession with Credence?
From the first film, Credence is only known to us as an orphan, so is it possible Yusuf needs to track him down due to a family connection?
The new issue of Entertainment Weekly, with Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander and Jude Law as Albus Dumbledore, and filled with numerous new interviews about Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and the Harry Potter saga, is available now.
Read SnitchSeeker's set visit breakdown of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, including the return to Hogwarts and London, and entering Paris's Wizarding world. Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” is the second of five all new adventures in J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World™.
At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne). But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings.
In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.
The film features an ensemble cast led by Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Zoë Kravitz, Callum Turner, Claudia Kim, William Nadylam, Kevin Guthrie, Carmen Ejogo, Poppy Corby-Tuech, with Jude Law and Johnny Depp.

The music is by eight-time Oscar nominee James Newton Howard (“Defiance,” “Michael Clayton,” “The Hunger Games” films).
Slated for release on November 16, 2018, the film will be distributed worldwide in 2D and 3D in select theatres and IMAX by Warner Bros. Pictures.
