Warwick Davis: Hi, it's Warwick Davis here, and I'd like to say a big magical hello to everyone at SnitchSeeker.com!
SnitchSeeker.com: How did you get the role of Flitwick?
WD: I actually auditioned for the role of Professor Flitwick. I went in and met Chris Columbus, the director. I had to read parts from the script, and we improvised as well. He played a [Hogwarts] student in Flitwick's classroom. We improvised for a few minutes and had lots of fun and lots of laughs. I went out of the audition feeling pretty good about it but then I had to wait three weeks to hear if I got the part or not. What was great about it was when the phone rang and they said, "We'd love you to play Professor Flitwick, but not only that. We'd also like you to play the goblin bank teller!" So I had two parts in the first movie which was beyond my wildest dreams.
SS.com: Do you like working in the Harry Potter films?
WD: I do enjoy filming Harry Potter. It's the nicest group of people to work for. The crew, the directors, the producers and the cast are tremendous! You know, we have the cream of British actors involved with these films and I'm always keen to see whom might be envolved in the next film as well - which famous British actors they've got on board this time because everybody seems to want to be in it! I feel very lucky to be a part of it, and now for the fifth time running. It's just fabulous!
SS.com: What's it like working with so many younger actors?
WD: Well all the younger actors that we work with on the film are actually a little bit more professional than a lot of the adult actors I have worked with in the past. Daniel, Emma and Rupert are the most professional - their concentration, they learn their lines, they're the nicest people you would ever want to meet. Certainly all of this fame and fortune has not gone to their heads. They're just the same people they were [before the films] and very nice [(inaudible) performers?] as well. [They're] really great!
SS.com: Have you ever met J.K.Rowling?
WD: I have met J.K.Rowling, I met her at the premiere of The Philosopher's Stone. I quickly checked with her, "Was Flitwick ok for you." And she said, "Yes, it was." Because it's always a worrying thing for an actor. You're bringing an author's work to life and you hope that you're fulfilling their vision and their creation. So she seemed pleased.
SS.com: Order of the Phoenix news?
WD: I've done a couple of days on Order of the Phoenix and it seems like we're just back at school for another term basically.
SS.com: A big family?
WD: Exactly, we're all back together and having fun.
SS.com: Any romance on the set?
WD: I haven't noticed anything. I'm sure there are some. I'm sure some of the animals get friendly. You know, Filch's cat often likes the rat. But I think he's probably looking at it for dinner actually. He he.
SS.com: Will you be in all of the Harry Potter films?
WD: Will I be sticking around? I hope so, Goodness me! *crosses fingers* I'm hoping [Flitwick] make it through the books alive, and I'm hoping that the producers will ask me back for the movies. I'm part of the furniture now at Hogwarts, I'm part of the decoration there. Hopefully it wouldn't be the same without me popping up.
Huge thanks to SS members
