According to a representative we spoke with at Hamilton Hodell, the agency that represents Emma Thompson, there will be no appearance by Sibyll Trelawney in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Quote:
She is not in the half blood prince.
You may recall in the book that it was Trelawney who indirectly informed Harry of two important facts, 1) Draco was 'celebrating' in the Room of Requirement and 2) Snape was the one who overheard her telling Dumbledore about Harry/Voldemort's prophecy. | |

they are butchering J.K. Rowling's true work now. I wish we had Chris Columbus directing. He did a good job with the first two. And the guy who did the fourth movie was really good. I don't think he did the fifth one though right?

I was hopeing she would be in it. they dont need to keep adding new charecters and giving them important charecters lines. Just keep it woth the original people. I bet some random person is going to be using her lines.

I don't know who directed the fourth one but the fifth movie OOTP was directed by the same director for HBP and i think even the upcoming DH, David Yates.

They are taking everything out. They say its because people wont sit through movies that long. Now dont get me wrong cause I like the movies but come on people sat through Lord of the Rings. If they truly like the stuff they will sit through it no matter the length.

It really sucks, but dhe has been having smaller appearances each movie. I would rather not have her there at all, then to have them just turn her character into a joke.

The director didn't cut Emma Thompson (Sibyll Trelawney). She chose to make "Nanny McPhee 2" over HBP.
She says, "The Harry Potters are great big franchises that are something I’m not emotionally attached to or necessarily particularly creatively attached to,” Thompson explained. “That’s more like doing a turn, whereas the Nanny McPhees are something I’ve written. The art is in those films, they’re very handmade, they’re something that’s very close to me. Those are the ones I really care about.”
