| | |  Exclusive: Dan Radcliffe interview at New York TimesTalk (UPDATED)
As we told you last month, Dan Radcliffe was the guest speaker at the 'New York Times TimesTalks' this evening. Our news mod reddiej was there and has sent in some items of interest that came up during the two-hour interview.
On Half-Blood Prince:
Dan was told of the release date change for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince 24 hours before Warner Bros went public with the news. He said during the filming, he stood in the back of the scene where Ron and Lavender kiss and tried to make Rupert Grint laugh. He also mentioned that Jessie Cave was great to work with.
On Deathly Hallows:
Dan stated that Sirius was in the script for Deathly Hallows in regards to 'The Forest Again' scene, but there is no guarantee at the moment on whether or not Gary Oldman will be back to play the part. He also mentioned that the shoot for the last films will be 14 months long, which will start next February.
On acting:
Dan said his 'dream role' would be Puck from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream; as well as a role in the musical Company. He would also like to do musical theater, in spite of being traumatised at a young age by being exposed to Chicago via his parents' love for the theatre.
On the early Potter years:
Dan said that Warner Bros. originally had wanted Dan to sign on for six films that would be filmed in Los Angeles, but that his parents refused, ultimately agreeing to a two-picture deal filmed in and around London. Dan also said he's been doing gymnastics for exercise on the Potter set since age 11.
Finally, when asked who his idol was, Dan named Gary Oldman, Stephen Fry, his best friend Will and his parents. reddiej will be online later with a full report.

That's great that Gary Oldman is returning for the final Harry Potter movie. I loved him as Sirius Black. Plus that's funning about him trying to make Rupert laugh

So bloody brilliant that Gary Oldman will be back ...as that means the forest scene, which I certainly believe to be perhaps the most crucial scene in the book (along w/ a couple of others). Also, gymnastics....cool. I love him!!!

Thats interesting about Dan finding out a couple of hours before, i hear that someone is saying that its delayed as well due to Dan getting his kit off in Equus in November as well and they didnt want that publicity around the time of HBP.

I have only ever heard about Puck because it's in Ballet Shoes..

I really hope that Gary Oldman returns as Sirius. It wouldn't be the same without him.
It would be very interesting to see Dan play Puck. Amusing and interesting.
I'm glad that his parents refused the deal having him sign on for the movies to be filmed in LA. It wouldn't have been the same. We're much better off having them created in a legitimate setting (for the most part). | |
