| | | Excerpts from JKR interview with Girlguiding Scotland
A few days ago it was revealed that JK was one of one hundred inspirational women to be interviewed by Girlguiding Scotland. The interviews are designed to encourage girls to 'aim higher' after shocking poll results found the following; Quote:
Teenage girls revealed that 63% would rather be a topless model than a doctor or a nurse. A quarter thought lap dancing was a good profession, but only 3% aspired to be teachers. The glamour model Jordan was a role model for more 15- to 19-year-olds than the Harry Potter author.
Excerpts from Rowling's interview have been published by The Sunday Times. Of her mother, Jo says; Quote:
“She was the one who read to us when we were little, filled the house with books, loved discussing her favourite novels and never sat down without something to read, so I would have to say (she gave me) a love of literature,” says Rowling, who has two daughters, Jessica, 12, and one-year-old Mackenzie. “However, she also taught me how to make a decent Yorkshire pudding.”
JK also talks briefly about an experience as a teacher; Quote:
“I remember the laughs I had with my favourite classes. One of my best memories is being presented with flowers by 4F of St David’s in Dalkeith after our last lesson together. Neither before nor since have flowers meant so much to me, and if you’d met 4F, you’d know why.”
The full interview will be published on May 1st.

^What is with the young girls of today?......
And apart from that, this is a really good interview. That's nice of her mother and I never know of her being a teacher.

Well I guess I'm one of the 3%! I'd so much rather be a teacher!!! And JK is so much more of a role model for me (as my avator suggests 'she's my idol.') Jordan isn't someone I aspire to be like and I can't believe that other girls would want to.

Hogwarts RPG Name: unsorted | This is outragous............ This is a very important thing to worry about! 63% of girls would rather be a topless model than a doctor or a nurse............. That is outragous!!! Any women who would rather be a topless model is nothing but a Stupid, idiotic, dim-witted hoe!!! More women need to focus on doing more important things than showing off for guys. Women are not stupid. They are very intelligent! A lot of girls prove that but most just prove how stupid someone can become when they dont have a dream............ How pathetic. |

That's very scary. Yikes, I would so rather be a doctor or nurse!

As everyone's mentioning, that's very disturbing. *shudders* I'm glad that Jo got to speak to the public about these matters.
