Evanna Lynch, Jason Isaacs support & promote Lumos at Harry Potter exhibit event
Lumos ambassadors Evanna Lynch and Jason Isaacs were on hand to discuss and show their support for J.K. Rowling's charity organization at an event at the British Library, current home of the Harry Potter: A History of Magic exhibit, on Thursday evening.
The two Harry Potter actors spoke exclusively to SnitchSeeker at the venue about how they hope Lumos will continue to help orphans and families worldwide, and stop the institutionalization of children.

SnitchSeeker: We’re here with Evanna Lynch. Can you tell me a little bit about your involvement with Lumos and what it means to you?
Evanna Lynch: Well, I’m a Lumos ambassador and I originally started to care for it because of Jo, obviously. She spoke so much from her heart about reading an article about the children and wanting to help. She’s just such a smart, brilliant woman, she knows … she just doesn’t do things carelessly.
When I started to read about it, I realized how miseducated most people are about orphanages. And that is a huge part of Lumos’s work – that they’re trying to change how people perceive orphanages because everyone thinks it’s such a good thing to go help and volunteer, but it’s actually making the problem worse because so many of these orphanages are corrupt.
I went to Haiti and we saw that. People were very, very skeptical about charities coming in, where, normally, developing countries are so delighted to have your help. They don’t want these orphanages to disband. They get a lot of money from them, and the money doesn’t go to the kids. So, as I say, a lot of Lumos’s work is telling people, “Don’t support orphanages or institutions.” Support Lumos and their work to get children reunited with their families or with foster parents. That’s it in a nutshell.
SnitchSeeker: What’s the main thing you want people to take away from this event tonight?
Evanna Lynch: I think I would want people to take away that Lumos has a plan to end orphanages and institutionalization for children in Europe by 2030, and worldwide by 2050. So they are working towards their unemployment. They have got a plan in place. In some of the speeches, we mentioned earlier that Jo covers all the admin – all the overhead costs – so any money you donate to Lumos is going to help these families directly. And, as I said, will be used very efficiently and very cleverly. It’s coming up on Christmas, so maybe donate on behalf of a family member or just your own Christmas present.

SnitchSeeker: We're here with Jason Isaacs.
Jason Isaacs: (points to a Slytherin banner hanging nearby) Slytherin. The only House that counts.
SnitchSeeker: I’m from SnitchSeeker to ask if you have a message for Harry Potter fans to tell about Lumos?
Jason Isaacs: They should go to lumos.org to see the incredible things that Jo has done. You know what a brilliant storyteller she is. You may not know how she’s changing the world. She changed the world’s imagination. Now she’s actually changing things on the ground, and changing the lives of the most vulnerable kids in the world. So, you may not have a lot of spare money – if you’re a Harry Potter fan, I assume you’re young – but you can certainly spread the message. So read what she’s doing and make sure other people are aware of it.
Neil Blair, head of Lumos and Rowling's longtime agent, took the stage at the event to reminisce about the Harry Potter book series, and comment about Lumos' initiatives.
Fantastic Beasts series actors Ezra Miller, Eddie Redmayne, and Alison Sudol were at the event as well. SnitchSeeker briefly chatted with the two men about the sequel, details of which can be found here.
