| | | Entertainment Weekly's new Half-Blood Prince article & exclusive photos (UPDATE #2)
The newest issue of Entertainment Weekly will be doing an exposé on Half-Blood Prince (as part of the fall movie preview, which is irrelevant now that the film's release date has been pushed back to next summer), and features interviews with the three stars, Dan Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson (which we previewed earlier), about their characters in the movies (Rupert and Emma mention how pleased they are to have larger roles in the sixth film as compared to previous Harry Potter installments); a look at one of the scenes being filmed (where Harry consoles a heartbroken Hermione); and many new images from the movie, including the first shot of Helen McCrory as Narcissa Malfoy, standing with Alan Rickman's Severus Snape and Helena Bonham-Carter, who plays her on-screen sister, Bellatrix Lestrange, as the three are about to perform the Unbreakable Vow.
The images and article can be seen and read in our galleries: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince comes to theatres July 17, 2009.
Source: Oh No They Didn't UPDATE: Entertainment Weekly has updated with a small scan of the Harry and Draco photo shown in the magazine, which can be seen in our galleries:
We will update when we have high-resolution images available. UPDATE#2: Entertainment Weekly now has the article available on their website with an update on the delay of the movie for next summer. |

| Omg... I still can't believe they are pushing the date. It seems almost like a spur of the moment decision(sp). I mean srsly... they have all these things about the Fall release, then all of a sudden they move the date. I'm super mad. We better get a whole lot more pictures and trailers and promotional stuff. And this better be a reeeeally good movie. [goes off to gripe w/ RL friends again]
Good pictures though anyway.

Good pictures though anyway. Agreed. They've been hyping it like crazy, and now they're pushing it back after even the trailer was in theaters with the November date? Seems like a poor business decision to me.
I'll still buy the EW though, haha.

If we didn't have that disgusting piece of news before, I'd be really happy. Although .. I have to admit, that Harry / Draco and the Snape, Bellatrix, and Narcissa one really gets to me.... I <3 them! & the Harry & Hermione scene too....
So sad. Why WB, why do you have to Crucio me like this?!

I'll still buy the EW though, haha. Actually, the publicity for the film was very minimal up until recently.

Yea I'll be curious to see how the magazine then handles this when it comes time for their Summer Movie Preview next year. Though this happened once before in just the last 3 or so years, I can't remember which flick it was, but there was a major studio film that got prominent placement in one of the mag's seasonal preview issues (though not the cover), and it ended up getting pushed for like 6 months later before that press time, and I remember they made some type of acknowledgment when its new release was actually coming up.

It must be performed with a witness ("Bonder") on hand, holding their wand on the agreeing persons' linked hands to bind them with magic in the form of a tongue of flame. The Vow is not literally "unbreakable" as the person taking it is still able to go back on his/her word, but doing so will cause instant death. The Unbreakable Vow was first introduced in Half-Blood Prince, in which Snape made a promise to Narcissa Malfoy to carry out her son's, Draco, task should he fail.

The way in which they eviscerated OOTP, I have to admit I am a bit surprised as well that they're dramatizing this moment, and I find it encouraging. Because it's a HUGE set up for properly finishing out Snape's entire character. That in 6 it looks iron clad like Snape is bad because of this, but in Joe's great way thanks to the writing, it'll pay off in 7 how he was able to commit to this, and yet still maintain his overall loyalty position to Dumbledore.
I just hope it goes a bit further, and it's an indication that Bellatrix's & Snape's conversation taking place prior to the vow will be included, when Snape very calmly gives her the answer to each and every one of her questions doubting him. But I wouldn't be surprised if that's not there, it's very dialogue heavy, of course. It's one of my very favorite parts of the book.
But at least as far as the first act of the story, we already know that Dumbledore picking up Harry from Privet Dr and chatting with Uncle Vernon is in, as well as Harry and Dumbledore going to Slughorn's house to recruit him.
Of the first few chapters, the one I can see most easily not being included is Fudge and Scrimger meeting with Britain's regular Prime Minister, there's no way that's making it in.

^^ i meant i didnt expect the Unbreakable Vow to be featured in the magazine . they will feature it in the movie, no doubt about it, its sets up the ending to HBP and a key scene in DH.
is Uncle Vernon in? i remember the interview with Richard Griffiths that he wasnt in HBP, however Fiona Shaw (Aunt Petunia) will be in there because of the link between her, Harry and Lily Potter, again setting up a key scene in DH.
btw, am i the only one who finds it ironic that Entertainment Weekly-- a WB publication-- doesnt look to be in the loop about this delay ? |
