We earlier reported that Emma Watson -- Hermione Granger -- would be turning on the Christmas lights in Oxford.

That happened yesterday evening at 6PM. CBBC Newsround has coverage of the event here.

Emma said she was thrilled to have taken part in switching on of the lights.

"I have wanted to do it ever since I was very young and I saw the Spice Girls do it.

"I love Oxford Street. I have come here most Christmases because I love the lights and all the beautiful displays in all the shops, " Emma added.

However the moment she walked up to the podium she was booming with confidence. No photos I'm afraid... wouldnt have been appropriate

I really think emma is really a lady form ( I think the black dress she wore was elegant*). She is lucky but there's a price for her to be such beauty.

Nah just kiddin, I don't know what I 'm talking about. But I'm just saying, I would like to let her know to be cauious that's all.

Ok there was something in the Emma Watson forums about Jo(a moderatore) she attended the whole switching on and she met 2 girls who Emma gave them free tickets to the premeire(long sotry), she got their email and everything. And those 2 girls met Emma and Emma told them something:-

Yeah I saw those girls at the PoA thing. They were so unexcited, I was stood right next to them. How unlucky was that?!

And I did put up the report that Jo did with them.

why is she waering boots with that dress? did she choose them in the dark. i mean she lookes lovely and it is a really nice dress but her boots spoil it.

cool though bit early for the lights isnt it? ours dont go on till DEC although last year Chris Moyels from BBC radio 1 switched them on. wonder who we will get this year? the cheeky girls? hope not

I feel the same everytime.I like emma watson in the movies and as herself too,but in some situations(like the scooby doo 2 costume)i felt there was something different with her.and i think there is no need to mention about that "hermione and jeans in POA" thing again!

Anyway,watson is looking good in this event.
