The Telegraph has a brief new interview with Emma Watson in which she talks about the importance of education and confirms that after shooting Deathly Hallows, she intends to go to university and take a break from acting. Quote:
"I would like to go to university and complete a degree and so that will mean a break from acting," Miss Watson, who has made more than £10 million thus far from the Harry Potter franchise, told The Telegraph.
"I've always tried to balance my education with my acting career, but I just don't think it will be possible to juggle it with a degree course. I have a need now to study."

Her spokesman denied she is giving up acting for good but confirmed that "any future projects will take second place to University. Her first commitment will be to her course".

perhaps Emma feels a little insecure about her education, although thats unlikely after her A levels. after finishing the HP series no one would deny her right to a break! but its so like Emma that she wont be taking the easy option.
i'm sure that she'll come back to acting (if she chooses to) better informed, educated with a broader life experience to reflect on into the future.

I agree with her decision. She is smart to want the education. I don't think it will have an impact on her career at all. She talented enough to pick it right back up, if that's what she chooses.

to be honest as a student it is hard enough having a part time job and getting course work done.. she would be doing films 12 hrs or more a day and studying its hard going!

OMG why is she doing that?
A woman trying to be an actress only has a shelf life of around 20 years before those acting jobs are few and far in between. You can always go back to university, thats the beauty of it. You can take years to finish up your degree. I mean I've been back and forth to school for over 10 years. I can when I have nothing else to do but when something catches my eye I withdraw and go do that.
Education is fine and all that, but there are plenty of people in this world that made their mark and didn't go to anyones school. I mean Bill Gates was kicked out of Harvard for his grades. Jay Z didn't even finish high school and then man is gonna be the first Hip Hop star to break a billion dollars. And the man has his own Crayola color!

It's wonderful that Emma is so dedicated to furthering her education. It's important that she gets a good education because acting has its ups and downs, and you never know where it could take you... Her education is important, especially since she may not be acting forever. Her beauty, her resume, her education/degree, and her acting career will get her so far. | |
