| | | Emma Watson talks relationships & growing up, full Crash magazine translation
In a brief new interview with The Telegraph Emma Watson talks about how being famous makes relationships problematic and discusses growing up. Quote:
"Finding someone that you like, or who likes you, is always difficult at my age," says Emma, who turns 19 next month. "But being famous complicates things much more. I suppose that some boys feel a bit intimidated by me and stay on their guard."
"It's easier to pull on film sets. They are a goldmine!"
Quote:
"I've got my driving licence and bought myself a car, a grey Toyota Prius," she says. "And now I can drink alcohol! I feel more free to to do what I want to do, and I suppose that I have to be more responsible for myself. That's a big change."
Also the full translation from Emma's interview with Crash magazine can now be read below thanks to EmmaWatson.net; Quote: How did your acting career start? I was nine when people came to my school to hold auditions for the HP movies. I was already a big fan of the books so my teacher told me to go ahead. After around 8 auditions and tests with other "Rons" and "Harrys", I got the part! You started playing Hermione when you were 10. Now you're 18. It's rather rare to see an actor growing up playing the same part. How does that feel? It wasn't easy growing up on the big screen. When you're a teenager, you're worried by a million things. You learn, you grow up, you make mistakes. It was hard going through this moment of changes while being part of such a huge production. What's the most interesting thing about being an actress? I love analysing a character: understanding how she'd react in a given situation, what she'd be thinking. I love the escapism of it. You can forget yourself completely. I love digging into my positive and negative memories. I keep them alive to be able to bring them back quickly while doing a scene. How do you see your future? I don't do it! I only care about the next 5 years... maximum! I'm only 18! Anything can happen! I'm taking advantage of all the opportunities! Why do you want to go to university? I feel alive and motivated when I'm learning. I never want to stop learning. I want to meet new people. I want to know what I like besides the movie industry, because it's a world that can be very isolating and the work can be quite intermittent. I want to fill in the gaps with something I love. And I want to be anonymous. I want to feel normal for a while.
What are you going to study? I want to speak French fluently, like when I was a kid. I want to paint better. I want to learn photography. I haven't studied History since I was 15 and I'd like to go back to studying it. I love literature. And I've never studied philosophy or politics. You are very humble. You don't play "the star". How do you feel about child stars? I don't really like that label. Child stars don't follow the best paths... if you listen to the media. They always seem to forget Meryl Streep, Natalie Portman, Julia Stiles, Jodie Foster. I don't think I'm bound to fail. I'm not more messed up than somebody else. I'm not a drug addict. Sure, life's not going to be easy after HP. I'll always be a bit scared of becoming a "former child star". I'll probably never be as famous, as young, as well paid as I am today. But it will all depend on how I will see my own success. How do you separate your private life and your public life? I like having my privacy, but it's rather difficult at the moment. I never talk about my love life, and journalists grumble a lot about that. In a certain way, having people speculate is better. Nobody knows the truth, but they keep writing articles anyway: they have no credential. Audrey Hepburn always said: "I don't care what they write about me, as long as it's not true." Tabloids are ridiculous, and I tend to agree with her. But I can't really complain. Relatively speaking, I've been rather well-treated. You're really keen on fashion. Why? It's such a pleasure! I love dressing up, it's expressive, it's creative! I appreciate fashion the same way I appreciate Art.
What are your favourite designers? Chanel, Vivienne Westwood, Balenciaga, Balmain, Preen, Christopher Kane, Marc Jacobs... What did you think of your first experience with Karl Lagerfeld? I've been a fan for a long time, but it's only now that I start realising the magnitude of his work. I REALLY think he's a genius. Besides, the photoshoot we did is one of the nicest I've ever had. Where would you like to live? France. Your worst nightmare? Sharks! Are you involved in charities? I'm starting slowly. I want my decisions to be based on thorough information and to participate in actions that really make a difference. I don't want to just be the "face" of a project. Are you green? I cannot not be "green". I did my end of school project on global warming and hurricane Katrina. I studied the effects on a small scale, like the dam projects in London, but also on a bigger scale. My car is electric, I recycle, I take public transportation, I try not to buy and drink bottled water. I'm a purist and I'm not perfect, but it's something I feel strongly about. Do you believe in magic? Yes. Not everything can be explained. Do you believe in miracles? I got the part, didn't I? Your favourite kind of music? I've been listening to a lot of blues and folk lately. Your favourite sound? That of a baby laughing. Your favourite scent? Rose Raspberry. Your favourite book? "The Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafón.
Your favourite piece of Art? My favourite artists are Euan Uglow, Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele and Jenny Saville. I love Tim Walker's photographs. I want to live in a Tim Walker photograph! I went to see the Francis Bacon exhibition at the Tate Gallery a few months ago and it was the most beautiful exhibition I had ever seen. But don't ask me to pick just one piece of art, it's too difficult!

Emma is such a dear. That's wonderful that she makes good choices in her life, unlike some other actors.

Emma is a sweetie- I want my niece to have a role model like Emma. She makes good choices in life, yet also will make mistakes as we all do. I was most impressed with her not knowing if she will make it in the business after HP. I say Emma has a strong strong chance as anyone- she is a very talented young actress who amazes me w. how she brings Hermione to life movie after movie. I also so admire her about school. Good for you Emma girl and good luck with everything in the future As for tabloids- SOOOO agree w. Emma on those!!!
