Emma Watson confirms year-long break from acting, new 'Colonia' film trailer
Emma Watson revealed in a new interview that she plans to take a year off from acting to focus on what she calls her 'personal development', which involves her book club, My Shared Self, as well as her UN Women's role as the HeForShe ambassador. More of the interview can be read below; but the quote about taking a break can seen here.
Emma Watson: I'm taking a year away from acting to focus on two things, really. My own personal development is one. I know that you read a book a day. My own personal task is to read a book a week, and also to read a book a month as part of my book club. I'm doing a huge amount of reading and study just on my own.
I almost thought about going and doing a year of gender studies, then I realized that I was learning so much by being on the ground and just speaking with people and doing my reading. That I was learning so much on my own. I actually wanted to keep on the path that I'm on. I'm reading a lot this year, and I want to do a lot of listening.
While the Harry Potter actress is taking a break now from acting, she still has new films coming out. This spring - Emma's 26th birthday, in fact - marks the U.S. release of her upcoming movie Colonia. The latest trailer was released online this week for the movie, out April 15, 2016, and can be viewed below.
Emma participated in junkets for the Germany release of the movie earlier this month, and a few interviews can be watched here.
SPOILER!!: Colonia junkets with Emma Watson in Germany.
Emma has one more project on the line set to be released, Disney's much-anticipated live action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, out in March 2017.
I think we always knew that, just like Hermione was meant to be more than just "Harry Potter's friend", Emma was meant to be more than just an actress. I expect we will hear great things about her in the future. *nodsnodsnods*
