Emma Watson "child star worth watching"

MSN movies has featured Emma Watson as a "child star worth watching". The piece praises her for her portrayal of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films.

Quote:

Although Daniel Radcliffe is enjoying the spotlight these days for his stage work in the racy play "Equus," the real emerging star of the "Harry Potter" franchise is the lovely Emma Watson, whose performance as Hermione Granger is head and shoulders above Radcliffe's. And even though Rupert Grint is adorable as Ron Weasley, it's clear both he and Radcliffe are still mugging a bit for the cameras. You can get away with this as a child actor, but it doesn't translate much beyond puberty. Watson has been more than booked with the Harry Potter roles, but she'll surely have other offers once the series wraps (and she'd better stick with the Potter movies, or they will be forever marred by her absence).

Darlinga 03-28-2007 11:37 AM

I strongly agree!!

AliD 03-28-2007 12:09 PM

i agree too

danismine 03-28-2007 12:16 PM

It was a good review but I don't like what the couple said about Dan and Rupert.

I too would have thought Emma is the best but I don't only because she is far too inconsistent. If she were more consistent, I would say that she definitely shows the most promise. However, sometimes she's absolutely brilliant and at other time she is an absolutely and almost unforgivably terrible actress. As it is, I personally think Rupert's the best because he has the most stage presence (could be the hair) and he's a more or less consistently good actor.

I agree, although many people think Emma portrays Hermione very badly i´ve always thought she was much better than both Dan and Rupert.

Sarah Granger-Snape 03-28-2007 01:41 PM

She is better than Dan and Rupert. They just get a free ride...

Dasha 03-28-2007 01:43 PM

She rocks....great actress and she is the hermionie i saw in the book...

MadameMalfoy 03-28-2007 02:03 PM

She's awesome. And its great that people are acknowledging her. She a great actress. But I dont think Rupert and Dan are mugging for the camera's. Although I do feel that Rupert doesnt get much time on screen. But Emma is great. :)

Sama 03-28-2007 02:14 PM

Yeah I agree she's pretty good....

adubbskthx 03-28-2007 02:20 PM

I'm glad that she decided to continue with the rest of the movies. It wouldn't be the same if during the sixth movie a random new Hermione waltz on the screen. ;)

I do believe that Dan has tried harder and has achieved much more than Emma has, although she rocks as a fantastic Hermione. I don't like that they insulted Dan though, that was rude and very untrue what they said if you think about it. Emma rocks though! and i'm soooooo glad we HAVE THE TRIO!!!!!!!!!!!

Eclipsed 03-28-2007 03:07 PM

Woah, that article's loaded with praise about Emma, I agree with all of it!

Padie 03-28-2007 03:17 PM

I don't agree at all with them. First of all, I don't like Emma that much as Hermione since I simply cannot see the character when I'm watching the films but the actress herself. And second, to me Daniel acomplished much more than Emma and he is defo more gifted than her.

BrightestWitch 03-28-2007 04:10 PM

I totally agree. Emma is a talented actress and no one can deny that no matter how much they loath her. When I see her portray Hermione in the films, I believe that she is her character.

Although, as much as I like Emma I'd have to say that the emerging star for me is Rupert Grint. They are all brilliant but he is just beyond them. <3

Good for Emma for receiving such positive praise. :D

AliD 03-28-2007 04:33 PM

i agree with that.

Jojogali 03-28-2007 04:38 PM

that's a huge compliment!

angeline_fire 03-28-2007 05:00 PM

Emma is great!
Though I think Rupert is the best by far! Believe it or not, Rupert has shown versatility beyond his age, and will go way ahead.

OtterySt.Catchpole 03-28-2007 05:28 PM

I can't believe it ... you all want to ruin her too ... *cries*

The girl can act ... just not like Hermione ... *Uuuuuuuuh burn* and I'd love to see her outside of HP but ... yeah, until then ... I'm totally reserving judgement. And on a sadder note ... should we really be watching child stars? Honestly ... look at how Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears turned out ... growing up under the evil eyes of the media ... yeah ... maybe we shouldn't watch Emma so closely ...

OMFG! Harry Potter is OVER NOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo *throws himself on the floor and cries and cries and cries*

Katieluff 03-28-2007 07:34 PM

She's good just not that good She's not my favourite and she hasn't been in any other movies so I'm still waiting to see how good she is generally. Rupert is still my all time favourite! :loved:

Hermionespell 03-28-2007 07:59 PM

Yup, Emma's amazing as well :)

EmmaRules 03-28-2007 08:03 PM
